hey i m arun from hyderabad..i have done my btech from IT(information technology) field...with less % and backlogs ..
i find both actuaries and CFA as interesting careers..but cant pick one of them clearly..
what are u r suggestions...from my knowledge actuary jobs are hard to find but once we get that "entrance" we can have a gradual rise..coming to CFA i have no knowledge but it interests me .can u guide me through this to choose a best option ..?
Puys, i gave Cat and Xat this year. And I want to persuade my cat dream further. but i am completing my graduation this year. and have got a job in a multinational IT company. I also got a job in a indian telecommunication solution company, but they are asking to sign a three years bond. i want to join my dream mba college in next two to three years n i dont want to sign any bonds, but i have heard that people who work in IT have a disadvantage in overall selection processes, specially for the IIM A/B/C...
plz give me advice on whether i should join IT or not
Hi,
I'm a final year student at one of the old IITs. I've an offer from SP Jain in Marketing and also a job offer from a top IT MNC in Associate position in Data Analytics role in pharma/ healthcare consult sector. I'm very confused which one to opt for. In case I opt for job, I intend to fight for IIM/ XLRI next year. Please advice (please include your reasons behind your suggestion)! :)
Can someone please tell me what kind of job can I get in Marketing? I'm looking for a bit of details like working hours, work pressure, travel, compensation, job role, career growth etc.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Work for two years. This will help you in two ways : 1) Exp. which will help you during MBA edu. 2) You will be well prepared for IIM ABC (Don't compromise for anything lesser).
As far as marketing job goes..most probably you will be working your first 2 years in Sales role and then only will move ahead towards marketing. And i hope you must be knowing what happens in sales role. So if you are die hard fan of Sales & Marketing then only take SP Jain else work for two years and then give your best.
Best of luck

I am in a stage where I am unable to decide which step to takein fact I dont even have steps L which makes it even more miserable
Completed my B.Tech (Electronics and Communication 2011 pass out)got placed in a company paying me around 3 lpa
My Idea was to join this firm, learn how things work in a corporationPracticallyunderstand which domain u are put intoand over the period of 2 years (bond period) thoroughly gain practical knowledge and simultaneously prepare for MBAtarget xlri..etc b.schools..
However my plan toppled because the company hasnt given joining dates to me n many of my friends till today2012 March
Bored of sitting at home from june to November..and applying for various off campuses..with no response ..finally landed up in a lecturer job at a very good autonomous government institutepays me well and has given me various responsibilities like project guide, etc considering my qualification to be only B.tech(24k/ month)
I always thought work experience is imp before any MBA program..its better to understand things practically to be a manager taking decisionsso dint prepare for cat 2011 or snap etc..n worried abt the joining dates from the company... expecting it now in the month of april2012
I have following options
1. Prepare for M.Tech to get admission in IIIT Bangalore and IIIT Pune or BITS Pillani..
2. Prepare for MBA from BITS Pillani..(Exam in June 2012)
3. Keep waiting to join the company I was placed in
My Interests:
MBA..but couldnt prepare for cat,snap..have MBA from bits pillani as an option
M.techfrom IIIT Banglore or puneboth have good courses..
I have neither of the above in my hand.. please advise what should I focus on
Probs:
Company joining date expected in april..
M.Tech exam in April, result in May
MBA Pillani exam in june result in august..

Hi,
I am doing my final semester B.tech in Aeronautical Engineering.I wish to continue my studies in MBA.I face the hardship that I don't have an excellent percentage in B.tech(69%),whereas my tenth(89%)and twelfth(88%) are just ok.Will I be able to gain admission to any good B.schools like the IIMs through cat?

yes defintly...there are many insties (like IIM C) who give less weightage to acads...many having a profile like u have sailed through in past...infact IIM K give 10/10 marks for grads if u an engineer and have 60%+..concentrate on getting a good score in CAT and other exams...
Puys, i want to do an MBA from (A/B/C) in next two years after taking a job experience. i am going to graduate in 2 months and have got a job in multinational IT company. but i have heard that Top MBA colleges have a negative view towards IT employees. wats ur advice, "should i join it job or not?". i have also received a job from an indian telecom solution company , but they are asking for a 3 yr bond and so not my 1st choice as i hope to land in am mba college in 2 yrs. this year was my first attempt at cat and i received 95.7 percentile , also my grad percentage are 69 and acads are 10th-80% 12th-90%
hoping for a reply
thanks in advance
hi everyone :)
I want to ask a question ..
whether one should do work exp in a very good firm or work exp in a small firm will suffice ?
actually i havent got job till now..and i am in my final year of graduation..
Hi puys
I am presently working in a PSU (say X). But on my first date of commencement of trainee program I took a leave and went to give an interview of another PSU(say XX) in which I didn't mention about X. I am now selected in XX.
Firstly, will I be requiring any NOC for X? I am thinking its not required as although I gave the interview on joining date, I could'nt have managed the NOC before being an employee of X.
Secondly, If I now manage to get Relieving Certificate from X will that end the need for a NOC?
Lastly, If I do not mention of X during employment in XX could I get caught? i will surely resign from X.
Please reply.
Thanks

hi,
there is no -ve view for IT employess...large %age of IT employees opt for an MBA every year...but u will have to ans ur wrk ex related ques in PIs....u ll have to have a gud knowledge of whichever domain u go for...at present u can consider 2 thinks b4 going fr a job:
1) take the 1 u r intrested in
2) the 1 which wud allow u to prepare fr ur exams wud be prefrble..
ur acads are decent...and many with wid similar acads get through every yr into IIMs..(leave aside a few like K)
hope this helps

The Interviewers and recruiters generally don't look for the size of the company. You're evaluated not based on the size of your company but the quality of work you've done. So,join any company as far as there's an opportunity of doing quality and good work.I would personally suggest you not to join any coaching center as many good colleges and companies don't take that as a valid work-ex and this could seriously hurt you sometime in the future.

Hi,
My profile is as below:
Xth std - 90%
XII std - 89.17%
Graduation - 70.30% B.E. ( Electronics)
Workex- 3.5 years till date in IT as software Engineer
Target colleges - Top 15 Indian colleges
I am planning to appear for CAT 2012, but little confused whether my workex would be above average ? ( 4.8 years of workex when next year course starts)
Will this affect adversely during placement? ( I am planning to go for Marketing )
Thanks

If you're targeting only the top 10-15 MBA colleges of India,I see no reason why you should be confused about taking Marketing as your specialization(Majors). The top FMCG companies like HCCB,P&G;,RB etc. don't differentiate much between a fresher and a work-ex guy as far as your learning is good and you've the capability to reflect your managerial (classroom) learning in real business scenario.Other good companies like Dell,HP also doesn't differentiate much.Actually,IT folks with good number of IT work-ex really excels in B2B marketing in any IT product based company.
So,stop worrying about these issues and prepare well for the CAT/XAT next year :)
