Sir, What happened with you ? What were your CAT scores ? How much time you devoted to CAT prep ? Please tell me more of your story. It will help me to take a lesson. Thank you :)
My first year CAT scores were close 90%ile. Second time I prepared with more intensity and still ended up way behind the prev. year's scores. Cleared XAT cut off for XLRI in DM and eng but missed in quant. Missed scmhrd by 4.5 marks. Also NM by a decent marks. And all the while I thought I was preparing well for these exams. Was sure of performing well. Even dedicated 2-3 months for learning Deutsch. Also an NGO called IPN.
My point is, it's really tough if one decides to just sit at home and appear on the second time. Even if you clear all the exams, you're going to face a lot of trouble in the interviews and in the selection process. If you have missed the first chance, keep a job as reserve. And try next time if you want. All the best.
need a much required help i am pursuing company secretaryship course and m into the second level(1 level before finals) after my exams from this june i will be undergoing management training for 15 months ,i plan to sit for mba entrances next year, this year i took only xat and scored 80 percentile. some people tell me that after your cs course you shud not go for mba as it does not 'gell' with it properly some people tell me that i shud have gone for a ca rather than cs if i wanted to do mba afterwards ...i am confused , i am a serious b school aspirant please help
It does not matter whether 'some people' think that you should do it or not. If you have a confident answer as to why do you want an MBA, no one can stop you. People are there who are doing it after doing MBBS. Yes, the number is probably very very less. But people are there who are doing it no matter what their backgrounds are. If you have a strong reason, and can explain it to the interviewers and convince them, you are through. Always remember, if you have a dream and are sure of achieving it, no one can stop you. Just keep on doing what you are doing, work hard and if you get a chance to fulfill your dream, go for it.

Just found this thread today...and hope some senior answers my queries!!!
I have got an offer from Mu-Sigma as a business analyst. Now i had planned to join an MBA college and pursue marketing this year itself, but since i din't get the required percentile(and not getting any top 20 college),i am thinking of having another go next year.I have some general queries which have been in my mind since quite some time,Hope some1 helps me. 1)How much difference is really there in an MBA from a tier1 to tier2 institute?I have been forced to think about this issue this year!!!(As in should i settle for tier2 institute or is tier1 worth giving a shot?I am very confident of a good performance as i have been consistently good in mocks).Which really can be branded as Tier1 then?
2)How much will my job profile help me in my interviews?I mean is this profile good and will help me in my pursuit next year ,specially in the interviews??(Now this is not really the reason i took up the job but if it helps then it would be great)
3)Does getting into business analyst profile mean i can only get selected/related profiles after my MBA?Or in other words how will this work-ex be looked at in an MBA college and after that?
4)Which stream of students get business analysts profile after an MBA(I am assuming that they would obviously be getting better profiles after doing an MBA)

Hi, I am a Final year Computer Engg student from Pune University. I gave CET and CMAT this year. I was aiming for JBIMS, got AIR 291 in CMAT and CET was also not that great either. I am planning to reappear again next year. But the difficult thing for me right now is finding a job. My aggregate is low (54%), I am not that interested in Software stuff and i am bad at programming.
I am planning to do MBA with specialization in finance. I am thinking of doing some finance related job now, since it will give an insight in finance industry and I will definitely prefer a job in finance than in IT. But I am not sure how to go about it and whether it is possible for a BE fresher to get a job in this industry.
---- How should i start my search for job ? ---- As a fresher what kind of jobs can i expect in this industry/field ? ---- Are there any certifications which can help me find a job in finance ?
Hi All, I have just passed out MBA from Sikkim Manipal University in distance mode.Prior to these I have 4 years of pharma sales experience which I never enjoyed & I left it in 2010. Now i am unemployed. I was misguided by the study center and mistakenly chose Marketing as my specialization in MBA whereas I dont want to join sales field again. I have recently done a PHP MySQL Web development course(covering HTML,CSS.Javascript etc.)from DOEACC. But they have not taught well .I want to get a good salaried IT job ,but PHP jobs are very low salaried & not much scope to go abroad. I have heard Oracle jobs are high paid & i am drooling. Can I get into Oracle DBA job by learning Oracle from a institute like SQL Star International? But I have a nontechnical Background.I did my B.Sc. from Calcutta University in Pure Science(PCM).Should I try in PHP line or do some thing else? Can I get a fresher job in purchase/logistics/materials deptt? Pls advise me how to get a good salaried job?

Hi...have seen you either in snap or NMAT thread this year as regular. Anyways. My suggestions.
1. See, if you are confident about getting a tier 1 insti then you should take up the job and go for it next year. If you are/were getting 95%ile+ scores in mocks then you already know you deserve to be in there. And about the 'how much difference' issue is concerned, the difference will reflect in infrastructure, faculty, placements, job profile....in short everything.
2. I don't know the responsibilities you need to handle in your job. Business analyst sounds exciting. If you are able to describe your role as responsible enough, it will add to your profile.
3. I don't think it matters much. You will/can get any company you want if their needs and your performances match.

Considering that you know PHP MYSQL, done MBA in distance learning course, and also have an experience of 4 years, you must be very experienced. Submit your resume to different sites which help people find jobs. Talk to some of the consultancy firms. Join SQL Star if you want to do Oracle. But try finding a job side by side.
PS: I myself am doing OJAD from SQL Star right now. Can't comment on whether they find people jobs. Have heard but not too sure. But yes, if you know oracle, your doors open for many places.
hey guys I am a student of Maharaja Agrasen Institute Of Technology(ggsip university).
XII=82% X =92.2% B.Tech(E.C.E)=76% till now. i am in third year. thats my biodata till date. and till now i have done no other thing that can be viewed as an achievement.
as my login name suggests my mission is iim ahmedabad. so guys please tell me what more i need to do in order to reserve a seat in iim a. (i know we need a cat score of above 99.5 for iima . but what i need to know is what more cream there must be in my resume to make them(iim a ) develop a taste for it.)

Concentrate on your studies for now. Also, do what you love to do other than studies. If you have a hobby continue with it. Hone your speaking skills. These should suffice. Having said that, nothing ensures a convert in IIM A. So don't keep in mind only one insti. Give your best, you will land up in a good place. All the best.

I'm being honest with you. As of now with a graduation % 80%age then there is a chance.
hey man that was certainly good advice. But the reason i am not considering other great institutes is really good enough(which i can't tell you.) but i want it (iim a). though not too badly till now. do you think i need to do some extracurriculars too. i did loads of that stuff in school. but believe me when i say there is no such thing in my college known as extra curriculars.
I'm being honest with you. As of now with a graduation % 80%age then there is a chance.
hey man i haven't heard that its necessary to have above 80% in your B.Tech in order to get into iim a . plus i really can't uplift it to 80% now. but still thanks for help.
This time I am the most confused person on this planet and need your help. My academic performance is disastrous (X,XII,Btech(IT)=80.6, 62, 60.47(till 7sems):banghead:. CAT 11 score is 85.80.MAT feb 2012 =794.5 I seriously don't want to go for job right now in IT field and do coding rest of my life. Moreover, am afraid to do any job right now. I am not confident. I want to study hard for CAT12 but to be very practical am not sharp and I do not expect percentile more than 95 in CAT12. And I can not get more than this MAT score for sure because this time I got some extra time during exam. My parents will sponsor my MBA(10-15 lakh max) so money is not the problem but sitting jobless in home after my B.Tech can hurt their sentiments.:drinking: I joined TIME Panipat but faculty was not good or may be they were sticking to basic level because of poor quality of students in my batch. Can you suggest me a better institute in delhi for weekend batch or I should enroll for TIME Panipat again (only for test series) Should I go for ITM NM or CHRIST or wait for CAT12 ? I am a 22 year boy with no industry knowledge. Your suggestion will help me take decision for my LIFE.
Regards, Amar Girdhar.
Don't go for any college this year.Go and join a job.You don't like coding and how did you came to know about this?? Definitely through words of mouth or through one of your seniors.I'm not saying software(IT industry) is one of the best place to work, but then it definitely is good and you would get ample opportunity of preparing for the next year's CAT/XAT. So,I would suggest you to join a company and prepare for next year's CAT.Even if you manage to get anything in between 90-95%ile,you'll get a good college.

Don't join IMT G dual country program. You've close to 3.5 years of experience and it really doesn't make any sense opting for dual program after having such a good work-ex.You can either take GMAt and move out of country or you could prepare for next year's CAT and target top 20 MBA colleges of India.
