My advice would be that you try again as you have scored nicely you could improve your CAT score and work-ex too which would improve your chances and yes the institute is not worth joining seeing your score
P.S- it was CAT 2011

HI mates,

I am not having any worries.I have certain dilemmas which I need to clear. First of all, I am a two plus year IT Exp guy working in a Reputed Institution. I tried for CAT last year but didnt end up getting good colleges. Missed some colleges by whisker in other exams. Inspite of all these things, I accidentally entered one of the best projects in the company. Currently working as BA in Retail practice team of TCS. I have more interest towards SCM and now working in promoting a product developed by TCS and roles are really good. I am doing market research , COmpany research, Presales stuff, Retail analytics and other works related to Merchandizing solutions of TCS .

Now, the dilemma is I seriously want to give one best shot again in Exams this year .But the prob is as of now I am too busy with project works, loads of responsibilites but I love it.

Wat will be the best suggestion for me?? Give one more year for best shot or prepare for GMAt and try for isb and other good colleges after gaining some considerable exp. Note: my business profile has resumed only four months before and prev i was working in Technical. i am working along with top B school passed outs now. Doing post MBA stuff.. Also I have my own startup concern which is getting slowly active.

suggestions are welcome. I am not a ninety nine percentiler. I have a thought in my mind like even if i go for two year MBA We will end up in Same work culture as My IT exp is increasing. is it true??

Can someone tell me if.....

re: Recognition
-Two main monitoring bodies: DEC and UGC (I am leaving AICTE, AIU, etc out of this discussion, for now)
-DEC gives approval to the Distance Learning wings (DDE) of Universities (Univs)
-UGC accredits Univs

re: Cases
-A Univ approved by DEC can run DDE for only the State it is approved for, so if DEC has approved a Univ for an X State, the Univ can run its DDE course ONLY in the state of X.
-To my knowledge only IGNOU is approved to run DDE thoughout India (PGites: Update if KSOU too is approved.)
-A Univ might have its approval revoked, because of expiry of validity or by a notification. DEC's approvals are not perpetual, it is renewable.

re: Choosing your MBA
This decision is highly contextual, here are some factors to consider while deciding:
-Your plan for the future
-Will it help you do a Phd if you want to do it later (Very critical for overseas Visas)
-If you want to migrate or study overseas, then does the target country recognise the Course/Univ
-Will you use the Degree to advance within your current organisation. Is your current organisation a stable one.
-Will you need to use your DDE degree for a better job option.
-If you don't have a job, then do you know for sure if Organisations have actually employed someone on the basis of the Degree/Cert you are targeting.
-Is your Work-experience aligned to the Certification/Degree/Specialization you are aiming for. Work-Ex is your kid. Never let it go.

Tips:
-Do not base your current plan solely on past successes of others. Do factor in the change in circumstances and growing competition.
-Think laterally. Explore:
-Certificates like ISO Auditor Exam,
-Accounting Technician by ICAI,
-Company Secretary (CS) by ICSI
-MBA from IGNOU
-Short-term Management Development Campus-programs of IIMs/XLRI
-IIM/XLRI-programs conducted by HUGHES
-Distance Learning Certificates of Symbiosis, NMIMS, etc.
-Etc.

Finally, do not spend too much time (over)analysing: Plan, Enroll, Finish.

All the best.

I am presently working in top IT company. Not at all interested in job as work is not of interest and not of any value of future. Feel very frustrated.
Am thinking of quiting this Job and prepare full time for CAT as I dont want to take any risks regarding CAT. But My past record is like : X-88% XII-64% GRAD-80.6% but college is not good. Also have 1 year gap after XII.

Please someone can guide what should I do ? Am really serious of leaving job,as its really frustrating. If I join some coaching insti to teach as part time while preparing, will it be counted as work exp during interviews/ ?

Would it be a wise decision to study in IMT-DCP or Fore School of management -PGDM after doing BE in top 15 engg. institution of India.Someone please suggest me.Should I go for CAT another shot??
I left the job one year ago,so...

You should definitely go for next years CAT.Meanwhile, try getting a job first. That would really help you during next year's GD/PI and would also help you make your profile stronger.

Hello Everyone !!!
Kaaliya here !!!:)

I will come straight to the point !!!
I am currently worling in a KPO.Had taken CAT this year.scored a decent percentile(99.61) but no calls from OLD iim's coz of my acads.!!!
Dream has always been to study in A/B/C/L....!!! And somehow just cant get over it.

I had taken RBI grade B last yr and qualified the Objective round.Have mains later this month
Also as i really love ECONOMICS,have started to prepare for DSE M.A economics entrance.and going by the last few yrs. papers,i am quiet confident of cracking it.Confident coz its not a RANDOM test, like CAT(zero importance to acads) :)

So,in case if i have to choose between RBI/DSE(M.A ECONOMICS),what should i choose??...my ultimate aim is to build a decent profile and apply to C/L/US top B-SCHOOLS after 3-4 yrs....

I am a CFA L3/FRM PART 2 candidate.

Any inputs guys???
Thanks!!

@kaliya
dude..howz ur acads??
& how many total professional courses have you taken??

I seem to feel that you are not valuing your achievements.
Take pride in yourself and build up your esteem.

With L2, PRM (I guess Part 1) and RBI prelims cleared you should just focus on getting a job (i.e. RBI) right now. If not then use L2 to explore CFA Society for internships.

Post 4/5 years work-ex target rank SE Asia B-Schools, like ISB, NUS or even US B-Schools.

for me..i think..it would be more than crime..to even think about IIMs..
more than that 'NO JOB IN HAND'..

Another season of MBA entrances has come to an end... and I find myself again at the start. After expecting atleast a waitlist from XLRI BM/HR at a XAT score of 99.78%ile and a decent interviews, I am feeling dejected downright to say the least...

Thus I seek some advice from all the stalwarts around here regarding the steps I should take further...
This was my 4th take at b-school exams... and have LBSIM Delhi and Fore Delhi as final converts..
Have 2+ years work-exp 1 yr each in IT and Banking... Presently as a P.O in SBI...

Should I join these colleges given my current profile and workex...My only reason if I join any of these colleges will be that I would be able to return to my native city and get a job in NCR too...due to it being in sync with my family issues..... presently I am poles apart from Delhi and no realistic chance of getting transferred here in the next 5-7 years...and yes rural-semi-urban postings that too at your non-native place makes it more difficult..

Another thought is join the college and have a final shot at IIMs/XL next year......the thought of not making it after getting so close is making me feel deplorable...
Expecting some advices/inputs.......

There are some decisions which make or break the rest of our lives. You might be successful doing an MBA from any decent institute in India but if you dont succeed in life , that decision will haunt you for life.

My advice will be to go for one more season if you really believe you can crack IIM,XL,FMS. In the meanwhile try to improve your profile.

Believe me once you get into a good college you can make up the years.

@aalokfirst
dude tell me 1 thing..
am going to give IBPS bank po exam..but m not eligible for sbi po(as i dont have 60% in 12th)..

Also I want to make it into top 10,I have left my job i have a work-ex of 3.6 yrs.

As i have no other offer in hand i have to join that college also i want to prepare for all the xams all over again.....i have also done a year coaching for CAT2k11.So this time i will do self study.
