Please don't read this as a comparison of colleges, but as a personal dilemma..
In your opinion, which would be a better a choice..
IMT G(Finance) or IMI PGDM,considering I am ok with either finance or marketing..
My concern is the Brand image as companies visiting the colleges are almost similar

while filing form for pg in any college

shud we fill any specialization Like PG Marketing ,PG Finance ?
or PG General is better ??as in second year we can choose our specialization

& also how is Chetana for PG ?? ............

shud I fill PG General Or PG Marketing

Little confuse ..........pls help

I am waitlisted in KJ(IB) and hopeful of a convert. Also converted Nirma-PGDM. I have 2.5 yrs of exp and this was my 4th attempt in CAT. Despite performing good in Mocks, i get an average score in exams or maybe luck is not in my favour(missed tiss by .5 mark and NMIMS by 1 mark). I am not sure dropping for CAT-12 will be a good idea or not as my work-ex will be 3.5, thus will only have to target top-20. And in case i dont get there i ll be stuck in the same technical field forever.

I want to do an MBA to switch to the functional field from technical. ROI is not that much of concern. I hope an MBA from the colleges i have will have some advantage 5-10 yrs down the line that just being a B.Tech.??

Some one please tell me what will be better for me right now and whether going for PGDM in Nirma will be better for long term as IB might reduce my choices, though heard placements are same. But i am not sure about the long term impact of IB.

hi puys...i am in a big dilemma these days..plz advice.
I always dreamt of iims/xlri/fms while preparing for cat-2011(and i really worked hard for it
), but could managed a meager 96.00%le in cat and xat was even worse.
I have converted nmims mba-core.Although, nm is not a bad option at all but my old dreams of studying in iims/xlri/fms is still alive.should i give cat one more chance or join nmims this year only...plz help, as this thing is really giving me sleepless nights from last 15 days.

Working in punj lloyd for 18 months now (in design profile, have to provide design and engineering to the construction going on site); quite hectic job.

Ur profile is very good now wat u r asking is a very dangerous question i have seen people's %ile getting degraded , but hv also seen some hi fi improvement also as far as datas go i can say for 60% of my friend their score degraded(but there was a obv reason for that as their previous percentile were in the range of 98.6). However wat i feel that if u dnt hv any financial problm then u can continue ur NMIMS course and appear for CAT - 12 so that if u ll get a good marks u can change. Like doc:).

P.S - Above written comments were entirely my view. May be a very silly idea .

Consider a few things before choosing ur b-school

Course , Compare the subjects and freedom to choose them , placement quality in terms of profiles and companies .. Location , alumni network .. batch strength which is inversely proportional to opportunities , faculty

you shouldnt be leaving nmims IMO.Its a good college and in the end, its what you do in those 2 years stays with you throughout your life time.Work hard, be the topper in your batch, participate in extra co curriculars..Also, I guess justifying a 2 yr gap is a tad difficult during interviews of IIMs/XL/FMS.All the Best

Hello puys,

I have done my graduation in 2011. Last year i didnot take up any job and just thought of preparing for cat....the year was full of ups and downs....due to some health issues and personal concerns did not prepare upto the mark and results were in vain. Again i have decided to take up CAT with good preparation.......i already have a gap in my career after graduation as i didnot take up any work ex........and this year i dont want to take any risk......people say that CAT is very uncertain....and after listening this iam more concerned whether preparation can be done simultaneously with job or not.........I only want to know is can i pursue a course instead of a job so that i dont have more gap in my career.........I thought of pursuing CFP course......only 4 months to go for CAT and i dont want to take up any risk by taking up a job, as far as preparation is concerned..I thought of taking up job once iam done with CAT........ If i Pursue CFP and join a NGO.........and prepare for CAT side by side.......is this advisable ?????????

My academic background :
10th cbse = 86%
12th state board = 92%
Graduation = 81%

Please suggest me in the best possible way.

Yup buddy i would say u are planning in an absolutely correct way dnt wry for a year gap, for now just prepare for CAT and yes try to make ur resume outstanding(like joining NGO, extra curricular, i mean watever possible) this would compensate for ur gap.

ATB buddy way to go :grin:

No yaar, its nothing like that. Till the time you are able to justify yourself satisfactorily in front of the panel, these things do not have very very much importance.

not at all yes some extra point is always there for work-ex but u can easily bridge that point gap by good cat score,gd,pi,extra curricular activity and 1 more thing for some college like sp jain u ll see that for finance and marketing almost half of the batch is w/o work-ex.

It is not an issue at all prepare well for cat.

Thankyou .............. its just that the tension of GAp and most of the people saying in favour of getting work ex, iam unable to judge what to be done......

Take a very cautious decision. If u r sure that u cannot handle job and CAT preps simultaneously then do not go for a job and channelize all ur energies in CAT prep. But do understand that these days these MBA entrances hv become too risky affairs and 100% hard work and dedication wont guarantee a fantastic %ile always. So take informed decisions.

But my personal suggestion would be to stretch urself a little, and do job and CAT perps side by side.As this yr CAT is not far so u can set a timeline for urself that you will find a job within that stipulated time. Also u can choose a job where you may not have to toil much and can prepare for CAT side by side. If somehow u r unable to find the suitable job then leave it and put ur heart and soul in CAT preps as if there is no other day.
Dont worry all things will fall in place.
Its just my personal suggestion.

May i know in which specialization you have done BE and MBA? Can suggest you something on the basis of that.

Buddy iam totally aware of this thing....but seriously iam so doubtful about my exam with job side by side...........there are certain other parameters in my life due to which iam thinking this much..........and even if i work i would be working for not more than 5 months as my family is relocating back to my hometown in coming months.......so thought of doing a course till cat exam...and once iam done with cat i would be starting hunting for job from november onwards !!! As of now i just want to concentrate on prep, ither course and extra curriculars.......so that i improve my profile on other parameters......correct me if iam making a mistake !!!
