i am really worried about my academic background.am i eligilble for any top mba institutes?.please list those and what are the exams i have to prepare for?which are the top institutes where academics dont matter much.planning to do mba from any top institutes in india or abroad..............
planning to write cat 2012..................
please help seniors................

My 2 cents. First work on your back papers. I suggest you put a concentrated effort towards clearing them. Work in engineering and try and get high marks to improve your grades. That should be your first priority. XLRI makes calls just on the basis of XAT score . Yes you can get into some good b schools. Suggest you improve your profile, work on it but first clear your back papers. You have 1 full year for these even if you prepare hard for 6 months you have good shot at it

HI All,I (VIKAS KUMAR) had very average academic background, details are given below: SSC: 70% (state board) HSC: 58% ( " " ) Graduation: B.SC(MATH) 67% MCA: 9 CGPA presently working with IBM as a System engineer gaining 2+ years of exp. I have bit confused regarding CAT this year.....shall I prepare well and test ourself in this year CAT.In case if i do good in CAT then shall I stand to get call from top pioneer B -school(IIM ,FMS,XLRI...). Please reply me asap with good suggestion. IF I do some other thing to make my resume heavy then it would be highly appreciable.

You have good chances with IIMC , XLRI , FMS , MDI , and the new IIMs .. rest i am afraid , you may not get a call ..

Hello Puys!!!

Somebody help me what should i do with a very average profile..

BE Civil (60)

X - 85

Work ex - 3 yrs ( 8 months MNC in Mumbai , 6 months gap and rest in a local builders firm in chandigarh)

I applied CAT 2011 2nd time and still got a poor score..around 80 ile..I have left my job
I have applied 2 UBS Chandigarh and have been shortlisted ...I ll try 2 convert d call..(J & K migrant category)
Have no job and apparently no sure chance of UBS getting converted ...
Missed the TISS cut off by almost a mark..
What should i do , should i go for CAT again ? or should i now go for a part time mba course...as i have wasted a lot of time..
What if i work fr another 2 yrs and go fr GMAT for Ex mba in Indian b schools...Will that be advisable or should i again appear for CAT /XAT..
I am interested in HR , wanted 2 appear for XAT and get into XLRI ..(16 lakhs loan) Even if i get a 99 ilein XAt , will my profile be considered to an extent that i have meek chances of converting the call??
Or should i just now drop the chances of mba nd rather concentrate on my Civil Engr career which i sumhw dont like....as i am left wid no option....
I knw I hav created probs fr myself but suggestions appreciated from senior puys ...Help!!

Am deepak from chennai
Here goes my acads
Xth 89.6
Xiith 94.1
BE (EEE) 78.4
Work ex with L&T; 22 months
My season this year is over with a XIMB WL which is likely to convert. Had XLRI BM call. Didnt get through after what i thought was my best PI this season.Dont know what went wrong. Very disappointed after XL result 😞 Now i am left with two options - XIMB this year or another try next year. I felt this year my CAT score(93) did not do justice to my ability as i have never scored below 95 in mocks and also my XAT score (99.77) is indication of that. Adding to this, last yr i had got
98.8%le.without prep andhadn't applied to any coll cos i didn't expect this much 😞 At the same time with CAT being so unpredictable i am worried what if the same happens next year too.Plus already i have 2 yr work ex with L&T; and will have 3 by the time i give CAT next yr . Also my current job is pretty boring and i am clear i want to quit by july ( my 2 yr bond ends then) . trying for market research n consulting jobs Also thinking of gmat. Too many thoughts disturbing a troubled mind
:-)
Pls suggest me ur views. I know its A
personal.choice but would.like to get
as many views as.possible

Thanks.a.lot

Deepak

1) first option UBS , would suggest you to first convert the call and then decide whether or not too join .. Also check how good UBS is for MBA in HR...

2)Going for GMAT can also be a good option , since you already have 3 years of work ex , but it also depends how interested you are in your field , your domain , and since you said you want to get into HR and dont like Civil Engineering job .. so it answers for itself

3)By next year you would have around 4 years of work ex if you did decide do to job again , so your list of good HR college is limited to TISS , XL , MDI , XIMB , SCMHRD , SIBM , IMI , IMT etc .. so get ready to work hard and improve your cat/xat percentile ..

Decide on the basis of interests but do keep a back up , so incase it doesnt go well next year , you should have some support to try again..

Typically Full time Jobs are considered as work ex , it excludes internship or training . So dont think it would count as a work ex ..

are you sure that internship & training don't work as a experience ? Companies also provide their own training and that works as a experience i think

Yes because its a full time on the roll of company training .. And in B-schools anything below 1 year is not considered work ex , so 5-6 months of training too doesnt count but yes a person have 3 yrs of work ex including training does count in many firms and some companies exclude training while considering work ex

See, if i join CDAC, and complete my course within 6 months & get placement from there and join that company within 1-2 week for 1 year then is that mean i have 1.6 year experience?

It will be counted as 1 year of work ex as CDAC training is a vocational training rather than a professional full time work ex , and secondly if you are given training by a firm after placement , it may be counted as work ex ..

ohh. Ok :(

One more thing, i am getting an internship in a small company for 9 months. If i join it and then move to another company to gain more exp then does that internship work as a exp also?

Please understand the meaning of full time

1) You get an appointment letter

2) You get salary slips

3) You get work ex certificate and relieving letter from the company you worked for ..

If your internship doesnt meet these requirements , its not work ex

Comparison of colleges is not allowed on PG , if you are looking for IT or OPs go for IITs else it traditional b-schools are better ..

Check for faculty , courses , subjects , placement profiles , companies visiting etc to make your final decision

Some people on this forum would give you two liner answer , when they dont have facts to back it up.. So its on you to make a final decision

Can anyone tell epm marketing and hr from sjmsom worth enough or has no value in the market ..?
Wat about its prospects in future ...

Is it recognized as executive mba or part time mba:banghead:

dude,

First of all, as abhimukh saar pointed out, comparison of bschool is not allowed in this forum..

Secondly , no one can answer which institute to join with out specifying your expectations .

I would suggest you to research abt both the colleges on various parameters like infra ,placements , faculties , alumni network and then take the call

good luck !
