I have 3.5 years of experience in IT field. Now i am going for my MBA (I know it is bit late [IMG]http://www.pagalguy.net/pagalguy/smilies/icon_confused.gif[/IMG] ). I have converted Nitie and SJMSOM, Now i have some Qs.
1) Which college should i join? My heart is with Nitie (because of Brand name , huge alumni base and cool campus life [IMG]http://www.pagalguy.net/pagalguy/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif[/IMG]) but my mind suggesting SJMSOM (because of IIT brand, Small batch size (i have very ordinary profile [IMG]http://www.pagalguy.net/pagalguy/smilies/icon_neutral.gif[/IMG] ) and good infra).
2) I want to specialize in SCM/operations now, can also do with consultancy (fed up of IT) , But even my Btech was in CS . So my Qs here is: will i be able to get any good operations company in final placement ? (not sure because of my IT work ex and CS Btech degree). Can i switch streams after such long experience in IT ? and what should i do in this situation ?

I tried hard for the CAT 2011 but due to my job(field\ intense travelling) i don't get enough time for preparing so don't give CAT 2011. But gave MAT feb and scored 99.42. Now, i have converted\appeared for VJIM, ITM NM, Christ, SIES(result yet not out). now as i have limited budget for MBA i ruled out ITM.
But now the problem is that my company is offering me a promotion and fixed location. i got confused weather to go for CAT 2012 or not. if ANS is no pzl tel me about my converted option are they worth spending around 8L and future job prospect and role offered after completion of program. i am interested in Marketing.
And if ans is yes then will my academics create a problem for getting a call and finally convert it from top 20 B-schools.
PLZ also tell me the chances for getting a call from IIM's and converting it.

Try to get 65% atleast in aggregate to even have a chance of getting calls from top IIMs otherwise even a 100 percentile wont do..

Work Ex : 20 months - TCS (July 2010 to present)

Two months before Cat 2011 i decided to take it for the first time & got 78 percentile.
Calls: IIM ranchi, trichy, raipur, kashipur, udaipur
Interview results yet to come for these. But i am not interested in joining these IIMS. I want to try next year CAT & crack big IIMs / top 15 colleges.
I want to know whether my profile is good enough to try another year & have a chance of getting into big IIMs ? I am confused guys. Help pls!!

Valid point. However, there is a specific reason why we are not allowing any kind of bschool comparision.
Firstly, we expect that a student carry out their own research. No one is naive enough to take a decision based on the reply to their post on a single thread. Everyone will study about their selected bschools and take a call themselves, they cannot expect someone else to do the research on the schools, study their profiles, and explain to them which bschools are best for them.
Secondly, those who reply about the schools are expected to have some knowledge about both the schools, and be objective while comparing them. If they belong to one particular school or are biased towards it, then they do tend to highlight that particular school, to the extent of showing the other school down, no matter how hard they try to be objective.
In the past, we have seen many a time when students have gone way overboard in these comparisions, and it has led to bad blood and flame/troll wars across the forum. Hence, avoided.

ur cgpa is low at the time of joining u ll have no work-ex so u have to compensate both on some grounds and CAT will not be sufficient. But if u ll really do very well in CAT then there are other very good b-schools also.

You have a great profile. Dont screw it by going for any tom **** and harry institute. You can get a call from all IIMs if you score 99 +.
All the best. Dont go for BIM.

if iim a is your only stop rhen ryt now try to improve ur cgpa and get a good percentile in cat. rest u can do after that improve ur cgpa

Thanks for the GMAT man. I got lucky considering I had not taken a single mock test.
Anyways, in your case, I know its pretty long shot, but Try north of 8.00.
I had 64% from PU and have been haunted by a low undergrad score every where. People cant go back in time to change the score but you are still in the 'present'.
I have seen people with good scores in the past like you getting a call from new IIMs at as low as 97.5 %ile.
I am joining IMT Ghaziabad because this was my first attempt and I didnt want to work. Its great you already know your priority. It helps. 😃
