Its unfortunate that you didnt get through the colleges you mentioned .. For a Non Engg graduate a percentage of 65 is pretty good and secondly if you do manage to get a job after your graduation and prepare then its fine .. But preparation from home adds tad bit extra pressure .. since this was your first attempt i would suggest you should try once more .. an executive MBA after 5 years something nobody can plan , if its supposed to happen it may .. but i firmly dont believe in 5 year plans or 10 years plans as nobody can tell what they will be doing 5 years hence .. and since you are only 20 .. i think you should give it a try for sure ..
I slightly disagree here because:
1. Most of the colleges give higher weightage to 10th and 12th marks, which are slightly on lower end when it comes to 12th.
2. Advantage of being non engineer is there, but when we talk of pool applying to top colleges, non engineers also have high percentage of marks, so 65 is not on higher end or pretty good when compared to pool. All is relative and nothing is absolute. 😃
I am not being pessimistic but just believe that being emotional and leaving what you have in hand is not right. Also, leaving the colleges that you mentioned and then getting into a 15-20 ranked college next year is not wise as opportunity cost of 1 year is high.
And i certainly believe that a person can plan his few years down the line and work accordingly to build his profile and achieve the results he aspired for. It is all about being self confident and working to achieve the same.
However, you have got to know both the schools of thoughts now. Evaluate them and take the decision accordingly.
All the best! :)
Thanks to both of you for your valuable suggestions ...
Really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart ...
Some of my own conclusions abt the situations :
1. Grad marks are decent, considering my stream & university .. I am surely among the top 5 % students of my university
2. As VisionIIMACL put it : "Most of the colleges give higher weightage to 10th and 12th marks, which are slightly on lower end when it comes to 12th." (thanks for being polite, its nt slightly on the lower side, its pathetic

)
3. The options i have this yr are decent colleges,(around top 35), so dropping 1 yr would only b justified if i make it to a top 20 clg nxt yr .. (my targets are MDI, IIFT, SIBM, TISS, NMIMS, XIMB) ... leaving NIRMA/TAPMI & joining KJ/IMI etc(no disrespect) nxt yr will not be profitable according to me ...so dat means that i wont have any backup clgs nxt yr .. HIGH RISK

4. Now, my actual reason to do an MBA is to build a decent career in the industry (dont want to be a CEO or something), so wasnt very conscious about brand value of institute or anything like that .. its only now that i am considering that ..

5. Also, if i drop the yr, the profile will only get worse & even if i manage calls from my dream instis(I am confident of getting calls), it may b tough to convert due to profile & lack of goal clarity

(I even dont have a good peer group to look up to)
6. I dont hav a job in hand bt will surely get one if I try, bt it may take upto 1 yr .. :sneaky:
Considering all of this, is there anything more u guys will like 2 add ??
Thanking u both in advance .... 😃
