seriously nothing would happen??
they won't ask me about dropping 1 year in PI???
have you come across any such case??
I will suggest to take it as a challenge to overcome the pessimist thoughts coming in your mind and put your best efforts to win over it.
All the best!
thanks for ur help! :)
I think i will settle for NIT Trichy. maybe a few years later, when i have "smartened up", i will think of some super specialisation courses or something of a similar nature abroad to improve career prospects.
Hi Puys,
Iam a 2011 batch passout, Working in a IT firm since 10 months, The Problem is very common, I dont like the work et al, every Monday I feel as a fresher. Its not that Iam technically not well versed and I dont have any personal problems with my team/manager, infact my team is very supportive. But I dont find any motivation for work. And I cant even ignore it. This is also hampering my cat preparations as I always feel unmotivated.
Iam planning to quit my job and join my dad's business, We have small size watch manufacturing and retail business. My dilemma is whether should i quit, will it hamper my chances of getting into a good b-school, as my profile is not that good. Or should i continue with job.
X -- 78% (SSC)
Diploma - 74% (MSBTE)
B.E(I.T.) - 65% (Mumbai University)
Please help!!
Thanks in advance .. :)
It depends on what is ur long term goal? Is it to join ur Dads biz ultimately or be in some service and do well in that service..Just give a thot to this...
Then if ur goal is to join ur Dads biz ultimately, though i dont suggest this option to many, still u can join ur Dads biz, and defend ur stance in GDPIs stating that this is ur long term goal....
In case u want to be in service industry life-long..then i would not suggest u to leave...The things uve stated imply ur not happy with ur current org/ IT industry..u can as well change ur job/industry if u get a chance..
If uve joined some classes and ur taking mock CATs the percentile which u get in them is a good indicator of ur final percentile, hence before making a decision give a thot to this aspect..
Hope it helps...

Dont ponder over these issues..Just prepare thoroughly and present urself in BEST manner in front of panelist..
Hi!
I graduated in 2011 from a not so good college. I joined some IT company and had to leave with only six months of experience (where I was just a trainee and practically did nothing) I have been looking for a good job since then (been jobless for almost three months now). I am planning to give CAT12. I am afraid if this holds me back from getting into top colleges. My profile is
X - 95.36%
PU - 76.33%
BE(CS) - 72.14%
Also I was a Google Summer of Code Student and I am actively looking for a job.
Please help me with some ideas as to what I can do now.
In ur case..it would be best to join any decent job now..wherein ur able to learn skills as well as u get time for MBA prep...Even joining some business (in case ur dad is bizman) should do..
And back urself up..dont emphasise on -ve points like not so good engg college..joblessness..fearing about impact of ur past life on CAT etc. etc.
Ur Future is to be decided by you...
hi suggestion needed from puys pls
I am working in IT (TCS)for past 3.5 years and feeling stagnated in my job.Now i have got through IIM rohtak and wish to join it to give some much needed boost my career.
But the problem is i got married 3 months back, and doing MBA after marriage.Dont know how good a idea that is.
2nd point sending 10 Lcs on MBA and leaving current jor for 2 years means another 10 lakhs .
Is going for MBA the right decison.
1 more question why are the hostels compulsry in some of the big B schools , even when some 1 does not need it?
There have been many cases in the past wherein married people have completed their MBA successfully....Though the calculation uve done is good on paper..do ponder over the long term benefits of doing ur MBA from the IIM brand..And of course in order to make big in ur life u need to work hard, be patient etc. etc.
Hostels are compulsory at most places in MBA coz its easier in terms of assignments/study etc..also in making sure guest lectures dont go unattended nd stuff..
If u dont go for this in life..u will remain in ur current company/industry..heres a chance to take hold of ur choice of specialisation/company/industry..
guys i want to knw wats the difference between an IIM A/B/C passout and K/I passout in terms of career opportunities and career grrowth...plz answer in a detailed manner
and also i scored 94.39 in verbalLR part this time in CAT....i am gd at LR bt avarage at verbal....if i decide to take CAT12 can i improve my verbal enough to get97+ %ile in tese 5-6 months
A/B/C is in a diff league altogether..these are the oldest MBA institutes in our country (of course my college is also oldest
)..Its a prestige completing MBA from them..
hello friends,
kindly guide me-- i wanted to do a Mba( HR), for that i left my job in sept'11 but i got selected for NMIMS pharma MBA through NMAT
i had worked in a pvt US MNC for 2 yrs into pharma -diabetes sector, I am really confused about joining this course as it would again bring me back to pharma whereas i wished to broaden my field, i have 75% in my b.pharma. what should i do? join this course or again prepare?
In anticipation of your replies
I guess ur dislike for Pharma is more. Havent heard of the course u mentioned..Join some company and keep preparing for CAT and give ur best shot next time..consult others also..

Anyhow, I am a B.Tech Graduate currently working in IT services sector.
Have around 1.5 years of experience as a Java Developer, currently working with IBM Sterling Commerce, dealing with supply chain management.
I am thinking of pursuing higher education. I am confused whether to do MS from USA or MBA from India. If I think of doing MS in finance/engineering management/operations(within top 20 colleges)..would that be a better option compared to an MBA(top 10) from India. Also, what is the present job scenario in US for a desi MS guy. I want to know the possibility of a job there within the period of 3 months after graduation and if there is a student loan, how easy/difficult is it to repay the loan back(again, referring to the first part, do/can I get a job there easily after graduation). Any first hand experience would be certainly appreciated.
Can anybody guide me so as I can decide what course of action would be the best for my future.
Thanks
:)
Puys, am in a serious fix, please help.
Completed B.Tech this year from NIT, Bhopal. CAT2011 was my first CAT and I scored 97.21 %ile.
:
Got calls from IIMK, new IIMs (except Rohtak), MDI and XIMB. Have been rejected by IIMK and by new IIMs in their first list. Also waitlisted (=rejected) by MDI.:::banghead: Have converted XIMB though.
I also have a job offer from a leading company in the ITes sector.
Now I want to give CAT another shot because I'm pretty confident about my abilities and have pretty good acads. But I have been listening to the fact of how CAT is a gamble and how it is very unpredictable now, over and over again. This has made me quite apprehensive and doubtful whether I'll be able to crack CAT again.
So should I join XIMB this year (which is a great bschool but not quite there at the top), or should I take up the job and retake CAT? I'm worried that insufficient time for preparation during the job and/or the normalization thingy in CAT might jeopardize my chances ![]()
Profile: B.Tech, NIT Bhopal- 8.3/10; X-95.6, XII-88.4 (both CBSE); decent extracurriculars in college (member of Editorial Board, office bearer in 3 departmental student societies, organized events in national level techfest etc.)
Please please pretty please...some words of advice... ![]()

I would srsly recomend you to take up your job this year and reappear for cat next year ..you have a good profile and you can do much better than this.
Had your cat score been better you had a sure shot call from A,B,C,L, ...You do thing only once in lyf .. make it count ..

Hi All,
I work in a software MNC and a very famous brand. But I don't have interest in working in IT.I want to do MBA from the top B-schools like IIM-A/B/C ,XLRI,or FMS.My academics are as follows.
10th-90.33%
12th-97%
B.Tech-7.46
But this time I gave CAT and got less than 60%ile.So is it practical that I think of these B-Schools or should I make another plans.IF possible then what should I do to make this a reality.
