Hi..I'm currently in the 1st year of my MBA...I'm facing this big dilemma on where to do my summer internship?...I'd like to know how important is the company and domain you intern in for your summers, with respect to your prospects in finals. I'm a b.com fresher and have been inclined towards finance..however could not get shortlisted for some of the big banks nd co's offering fin roles..So now should I be patient and be ready to work with a PSU bank at no/low stipend(which is obv immaterial) or get into good marketing role(my 2nd interest after finance)...Since I hardly got any shortlists for summers, I'd say my resume isnt dat gr8...nd neither do I see myself getting above average marks in my MBA batch..so after a marketing summers, what would be my chances to get shortlisted in good finance co's/banks in the finals?

I'd look at an internship as a trailer before the actual movie...for both sides. It gives them a chance to evaluate your capabilities before offering a full-time job. Which is why many students are able to convert their internships into job offers.
But if you haven't got a foot in the door yet, doesn't mean that you can approach the same firms later when they come back to campus for full-time positions.
The question to ask yourself at that stage is, if they weren't keen on taking you onboard for an internship what could the possible reasons be? And what can you do to address their concerns when you get a second shot?
hi,this is career decision related query.i ll be glad if somebody answers.i passed my graduation in the year 2009.then started preparing for MBA n gave cat in year 2010.but didn`t managed any calls n went whole way disaster.after that just wasted my time here n there doing nothing.now at the age of 25yr,i am thinking to apply for charted accountancy,which will take four long years.can any one tell me that whether this step of mine is correct to go for ca n i ll be able to manage a good job after completing the course or due to age factor n lack of experience everything will go in vain on becoming ca.
if not ca then what can i try ??????after 2009 nothing special happened so hard it will be to get in to any b-school,as they ll ask for the time gap n its reasoning.so hard chances now at mba. i mean what can i seriously try to manage a fine career start in some good stable company. i am commerce grad in second division.

try to get into a bschool,c.a is plain stupidity now.are you giving cat this year? if not then i think xat registrations are still open.apply there,study and get into a decent college.everything will be fine.

Depends on the school you are applying to. In many cases, I have seen joining letter, first payslip and last payslip are considered sufficient.
We all go through a phase in life sometime when we have certain dilemma to face. This dilemma can neither be categorized as CAT or any exam related dilemma nor as the professional dilemma, rather it is related to something happening in our life.
And we feel that we can share such hiccups of life with our fellow puys and try to know the best possible way to deal with such situations and overcome the dilemma.

I really wanted to pursue IAS preps for past two years..but my family bieng orthodox took view from various astrologers and they all said no,dnt allow him to go for dat,he wont make it.I have a simple questiono all IAS aspirants have a kundli to become an ias??? ne exceptions??

My 10th and 12th percentage are 89 and 79 respectively.
Please tell me that can i get into a top MBA college ?

during the gd/pi colleges do give weightage to the academics , apart from your graduation as you have good percentages in your 10th and 12th I think you can get into good B school

Hi Puys, My CAT exam is on 16 Nov 2011.I need Help from you guys for making my strategy.I know everyone can make strategy knowing his/her Strengths and weakness. Actually I never try any strategy but after reading here on pagal guy and performing poor in mocks I realized without strategy everything is useless. I want to share some of my details so that you can help me better: 1. I am working Guy taken without pay leave for 6 months for CAT only. Total almost 5 years of experience so I was out of touch with studies I was an average Student in my school and college Days. 2. I am the Student of IMS and Taken all 12 SIMCAT mocks, some Test funda and few ace cat never crossed more than 80 percentile and never cross cut of of any section. I have taken all the test seriously I mean performance wise but never analysis after test.(I think the biggest mistake I have done here). 3. My Mock tests are bad but my quant is not Bad its more than average. My DI is also Ok and LR is Good.English is average. 4. Last 5-6 Months I am working hard and did a lot improvement in each area specially VA But it is not reflecting in Test. I am worried time pressure will kill me in CAT if I am unable to perform in Mock even if I am sitting at home and taking any online test I am performing poor. SO the Basic Problem is without any time limit and exam pressure I do well.Even in BRM test my accuracy and performance is good (I always do better in paper pencil test).But every online exam I failed.:nono: I am IT guy so I am using comp daily almost 8-10 hour but still in online exam I am unable to perform better. 5. I know my strength and weakness and caliber. I know I can get into IIM but not this Year but due to some personal reason I cant afford one more year.So I decided I will join top college at least like MDI, IMI,IMTand IIT's (JMET). But I have fear getting 95+ percentile is very very difficult for me if I am seeing my past mock scores. Ab to Mock test dene me bhi dar lagta hai.:w00t: Accuracy, online Exam and Time management Ye 3 main problem hai. I have done with my preparation and I dont want to study more want revise only formulas and trying to find a way so that I can cope up with such problems. Guys, My Heart always say, "You did hard work and its not going to waste" If I listen to my heart I am confident I will crack Cat and join college of my choice But if I am looking my past scores and analyze reality I feel low. I know I am not only one who is facing this situation I want to know how you guys tackle such condition so that if feasible I will also try same and my moral and may be your suggestion will boost up me. :cheers: Thanks For reading it :):)
