Personal Dilemma Related Queries

hi,this is career decision related query.i ll be glad if somebody answers.i passed my graduation in the year 2009.then started preparing for MBA n gave cat in year 2010.but didn`t managed any calls n went whole way disaster.after that just wasted my time here n there doing nothing.now at the age of 25yr,i am thinking to apply for charted accountancy, which will take four long years.can any one tell me that whether this step of mine is correct to go for ca n i ll be able to manage a good job after completing the course or due to age factor n lack of experience everything will go in vain on becoming ca.

if not ca then what can i try ??????after 2009 nothing special happened so hard it will be to get in to any b-school,as they ll ask for the time gap n its reasoning.so hard chances now at mba.
i mean what can i seriously try to manage a fine career start in some good stable company. i am commerce grad in second division.

thanks n hope for a reply

it's up to you. If you think that after graduation CA will give you an edge for future career, then go ahead with it.
But I will prefer you to go with am MBA. Yes, there are some questions like, B-school fees, good final placement etc..

But don't be upset by not qualifying in CAT 2010. You can try for Feb MAT. Good B- school participates in feb MAT. You can apply for MDI, IBS, IILM, Jaipuria, Amity etc...
Should we consider Astrologers view before selecting a career??
I really wanted to pursue IAS preps for past two years..but my family bieng orthodox took view from various astrologers and they all said no,dnt allow him to go for dat,he wont make it.I have a simple questiono all IAS aspirants have a kundli to become an ias???

your question answered here:-

thnks..i found your reply soothing but finally the question still remains..does astrology has that accuracy so that we should decide our fate on its readings??
I mean if it so true than i will be wasting my precious years in vain !!

ha ha :D

as i mentioned earlier, that's a believer's and a non believer's argument.

type 1 : many people believe that they can't get more than they are destined to get.
type 2 : many people believe that they can get more than they are destined to get.
the type 2 people generally end up trying and thinking what's the harm in trying further.
the type 1 people are content with their lives and don't want to take risks.

now you have to decide what type you are. :)

best of luck.

Hi,

I have a few queries regarding my career and eligibility for CAT . Kindly help to sort these out for me . I had done Aircraft Maintenance engineering (AME course) , which is a 3 year certificate course , but not a degree course , with 78.5 % marks . Simultaneously , I did BA programme from delhi university ( correspondence ) with 51.5 % . I worked for 1 year in aviation industry in the planning department as a paid trainee ( though it ws minimal ) . Due to poor scope in aviation industry , i decided to do MBA (FINANCE OR HR ) , and gave my CAT dis year after studying rigorously . Further ,
10th- 85.4%
12th-67.4%

I wanna ask as evry other institute is putting more weightage on profile , will my AME course be considered ? how can i highlight it at the time of filling up of application forms because dey may reject me solely coz i have done my graduation through correspondence ? Can i expect to get into a good college if i get a good score ??
plz revert ...

Hello, I am Tarun Adnani. I am currently in grade 12 CBSE science stream. I actually want to do MBA in Human Resource for PG. So just wanted to know would B.Tech would be a good field for UG or should I just pursuit BBA and then do HR or anyother engineering field?

bhai. BTECH is a universaly accepted degree. also engineers have a better chance of cracking entrances due to their rigourous course structure. Also if u want to get into MBA hr , XLRI is the best b school in the entire south east asia. For XLRI u need be really good with language and numbers.

now the choice is urs 😃

hi guys, i have a dilemma regarding my career option. After spending 1.5 years in IT industry, i understood it is not my cup of tea. to keep it simple, i dont want to sit infront of a computer/machine all my life. i need something more physical, where i am moving places, meeting people and is not sedentary. I really love the jobs which makes me sweat. I thought of fitness trainer as an option, but i dont want to do that. Is there any more option which i can take. i wrote cat this year, i am confident cracking it. But..............i dont want to sit infornt of a laptop/computer all my llife and work. Guys ,dont find it weird but suggest some options....i am waiting for the replies

I would suggest you to do mba only if you are interested, mba ads ots to your profile and if you get into top colleges then you can job in good company with good package

I was planning to appear for cat and gmat in 2012 and then decide best place for pursuing mba depending upon my score.

My confusion is that all the top international schools have got deadlines for

applications in October and we receive Cat results in January.

Suppose my gmat score is better than Cat score, by the time I receive Cat score, I would have lost my chances to apply at US schools for that academic year.

Plz reply if I am not aware of any critical information.

Hello everyone,

Found this website yesterday, created my account and below is why I have been looking for a discussion forum like this.

I migrated to UK 9 years ago, now a British Citizen with OCI, which entitles me to all the NRI rights except I cannot vote. I have always wanted to MBA but for some or other reason, I could not pursue it. We are now thinking of coming back to India for good and long term dream of MBA is tinkling again. This is where I need your advice. I have 11 years of IT experience, mostly technical and no managerial experience. I dont have the energy & courage to go for CAT and aim IIMs and after 11 yrs of job I don't want to settle down for a an institute with no reputation either.

So please can someone suggest me what colleges/institutes I could aim for. How do I go about them. Do I really have to crack GMAT or CAT to get into a good institute. I would not mind spending descent or in-descent amount of money if that can help me get into a reputed institute through some kind of quota or whatever. If that is possibility, please suggest what kind of money I am looking at. I am open for executive MBA or regular MBA options.

I hope someone can really help me here. Will gratefully appreciate.

Thanks,
PS: If this is not the right forum, please advice so I could post my query in the appropriate one.

1. Think whether you want to work right now or not. Also think whether you want to do a full time MBA or a exec MBA. Both has pros and cons. Full time will give you in-depth exposure which exec will lack.

2. The answer to the second question will be based on what you figure out in the first question. If you want to do full time, fill all exam forms.

Abhyu1905 Says
How important is industry exposure in MBA? Is regular interface required? Can anybody throw some light. :)

Industry exposure is extremely important in any professional course. Especially if you are a fresher, these interactions help in understanding how the industry works in reality. In a top business schools, industry professionals generally come one their own to share insights and experiences. However, if you are looking at a second rung school, industry interaction is typically lower both in quality and quantity.

You have to take the GMAT. IIMs, XLRI, SP Jain and ISB have 1 year programs in management. I think you should aim at these programs. And these places dont have any quotas.

It seems BIBS Kolkata is using this thread for advertising. Please check.

It is one of the premium B school in south kolkata. The location is at the heart of the city. One can easily manage to travel everyday.

Hi all,
Wanted to know if some of the good MBA colleges ( the top 25 ones) require an experience certificate at the time of admission, or pay slips are enough to serve the purpose. There was a post with the same query, but it was replied to only once and the responder was not sure about it. Hence, whoever has some information in this regard, please be kind enough to reply.
Looking forward to some replies 😃 .....

Work ex certi/Relieving letter from the company in which you worked is required to be produced at the time of final admission in most of the top b-schools.

However, few colleges can ask for the same at the time of GDPI itself. But, mostly this is required at time of final admission and payslips can serve as interim proof till the time one gets work ex certi or relieving letter issued from the respective company.

The thing is that the bond for the company for which I am working presently is not yet over. I need to quit this job for personal reasons. If I don't pay the bond money (which is huge and I haven't even earned that much till now) , I won't get the experience certificate. I am planning to give CAT the next year and plan to target the top colleges. Please advice... m in a total fix!! 😞
