i have appeared for my entrance exams in the following manner CAT in november n scored 49.28. MAT in december and scored 67.65 MAH-MBA CET n scored 53 percentile.
my academics are as follows Graduation in Accounts hons scoring 67.65 ISC scoring 79% which includes English + Best three ICSE scoring 56% which includes English + Best four
now i dont know which college to opt for cuz most of the gud colleges have already closed their admissions and i m still confused. i want to go to a college which gives a gud placement of around 5 lakhs n above as an average package and highest package can b anythng more than that. fee structure around 6-8 lakhs which include an international tour and a leaptop or ipad. i know my requirement are bit more than of wat i deserve but thats my requirement... plz suggest me some college where i can still apply. i have worked in wipro and i am very gud in gd pi so i m ready to face it but i think i hav lost my opportunities. cuz i thought i will explore all my options n now my options are disappearing. do i still have any chance... can u suggest some before 7th of june... it will be really helpful

Why do you want to do an MBA? I would suggest that you continue to pursue accounts as I can see your graduation marks are good (1st division). Why don't you do an M.Com. + CA/CWA? Another option would be to appear for Bank PO exam and make a career in banking. Don't worry about money. There is money in these fields if you can prove yourself.
I don't think any institute with your specifications are open now. Even if they had been open, your test scores (and acads) wouldn't be enough to get admission.
What should I do?? 7th is the last date for FORE school of management.And I never though even in dreams to take up admission in these colleges??what should i do now??
Follow your dream, dude. You shouldnt pursue your MBA in regret. I would suggest aim for CAT again, and prepare better for it this time. All the best.

I got the only call from IMT G (Fin) and converted it. Now, i am preparing for the Finals of ICWAI in June 2012.I wanted to join in one of the IIMs. My dilemma is what should i do ? Should i appear for CAT 2012 , which would mean i'll have to justify a lot during PI because i am not working or join IMT G and appear for CAT 2012? Well if you want to see yourself in an IIM the next year, no one can stop your from it! Either you can take a drop, by not joining IMT-G and prepare in a better way for your CAT. That significantly enhances your chances of getting a good score, as you'll get more time to prepare.
Else you can study @ IMT, and take up CAT. But that would be tough and expensive option too. Also, justifying later, would get ugly too.
In my opinion, take a break, and go crazy with the preparations! :cheerio:

IMTG Fin in itself is not bad. Infact, I think there is tough competition for the seat you have been offered. However, I feel with your profile (and if you complete CWA finals), you can get a better school.
However, next year you will have a 2 year gap and it will be difficult for you to justify that. If you pass CWA Finals, you can justify one year. But then it will be asked to you why you didn't pursue a career in accounting if you sacrificed one year in attaining the qualification.
People have cracked CAT even while in b-school. But some serious dedication is needed as 1st year MBA is crazy.
1) I should continue to july 2012 (for that I will have to take my resign back , is it legal? since I havent got any written reply from them , and they havent done my appraisal this time and salary I am getting is very low as per market value)
2) Should I take any legal action against them ? if yes, then how ? I have worked very hard to earn those money . I can not let them go .
P.S. My company is not registered , Every time we are asking for the form 16 they give us some PAN number .. and it is the working under the company which is registered but I seriously doubt my company's registration since they dont have any structured salary and strength is 16 people .
Please someone tell me what should I do ? since my notice period is going to over soon .

I think you should exit the firm as soon as possible ... there is no point in continuing with the firm .. I know you may have to forego your hard earned money but since the company is not registered , this in itself does make all the agreements null and void
You can follow a legal procedure for fraud and cheating but i would rather suggest you to get your work ex certificate and get out of there peacefully and next time be very sure of the firm you are joining
If you are serious about finance , don't think about Tier 2 B-schools try for top 10
At Tier 2 level , you will end up with back end profiles at max ...good profiles are far and few .. so think about it ..

That's exactly the reason why i have this dilemma , the front end jobs in Finance are offered in only the 6 old IIMs i guess and FMS maybe. Taking CAT while in bschool will be tough , lets see what i can do.

I wanted to do MBA cuz i wanted that exposure to works as a manager. yes i have appeared for Bank P.O and i failed in data analysis for 1 marks. what i m trying to say is i know in my more 2-3 attempts for P.O or clerk i will be able to make it and GD PI are not a big deal for me. I did initiated C.A wen i was doing my graduation but failing once there have destroyed my willingness to do C.A. Thus the options available for me are MBA or PGDM programs...
I do appreciate your comments toward my post but i would like to know if i m not the applicable candidate for my MBA. cuz i have got calls from colleges like jims, niilm, bimtech, ****, ndim, empi, asia pacific.. many more from south.. colleges like acharya, vishwavishwani, and i dont remember any thng more.. mitcon sinhgad and other gud colleges from pune.. actually i wanted to pursue it from mumbai but then knowing the process which says 85% is for maharastrian ppl and that scared me a lot...

is query is from my bro who has jst completed 12th. he isfrom pcm background but nw says that its boring acc to him so dnt want to continue in this field.His intrst is in computers ,so gave bca enterance of I.P.UNIVERSITY,DELhI n got a good rank of 250 .so hopefull of getting very good.college from I.P. earlier he was focussed on bsc(computr hnrs) from DU but scored only 78% in 12th..so getting admission in top colleges is out of the picture but after subsequent lists may get in lower rated colleges of DU . so he is really confused between DU(brand name) or almost top college of IP but its brand name is less.. I.T gUYS PLS SUGGEST abt prospects of job n higher edu aFtr both of them. thanx :-) p.s- seeing me ..he also wants to pursue an mba aftr grad. 😃

Dont drop 2 years. Look for a job if you happen to do well at ICWAI, and simultaneously prepare for the CAT. For a decent shot at front end fin profiles, look no where apart from(In decreasing order of prospects) IIM CAB, FMS, IIM L, XL, IIM K
There will be a few front end profiles coming to some other schools too, but the entire shcool will be vying for them so its a b it of a long shot
here's my set of questions (Genuine ) I gave my GD - PI on 27th at PUMBA GD - parents do not understand their children 1. I made 5 entries but as I was the only guy supporting ' parents understand their children ' I had to fight a bit. 2. At the start of GD I fumbled with my docs the panel was looking at me 3. while concluding the guy who concluded said that we have almost agreed that parents do not understand their children so I had to enter and I said we should not leave the problem like that ... we should solve it. Should I be worried about anything ??? my points were (I was the 3rd person to speak- did not start/conclude) 1. Agreed that today's world is fast but children should try to understand that the parents are working for their long term well being. 2. Shows like satyamev jayate are broadcasted on 10 channels in 10 languages - so awareness is being created by its episodes like the one that of child sex abuse 3. if we have grandparents in home then they make children emotionally intelligent and children can understand their parent's lack of attention towards them. 4. 76% of population leaves in rural areas and parents there do not let their chldren go far .. and are attached to the children 5. Virdhawal khade - a biy from kolhapur who will represent india in london olympics - his father quit 3-4 jobs to train him to become a swimmer (as I said this all people jumped on me ) then I said that we should take inspiration and see that these things happen even in today's fast world. My profile - 119/200 in CET par 4/6 how much can I expect in GD ? PI was pretty decent ... panel was talking very concerningly with me.

P.S- i dont want to settle for mediocrity in my life, even if i am jobless right now. i wont go back to IT, i wont join a college except IIMABCLIK, XLRI,FMS. ( i am not against any other college , its just that i wont be happy joining any other college. it would not feel right, the same way it dint feel right joining an IT company)

You mentioned your "MBA Dream", so go ahead and follow it. Focus on CAT this year and make sure you crack it. You need to realise that the CAT and your job are independent events. So dont intertwine them. Look for a job on one hand, try really hard for it, but on the other hand prepare well for CAT. If the jobs not working out, try your B plan. Even if it doesn't work, you'l have entrepreneurial experience which will improve you as a person and a professional, and also give you a lot to speak about at the interviews. Panels love gus who have tried to be entrepreneurs.
But whatever you do, dont compromise on your preparations. 2-3 hours a dau would be enough, rest of the time work on your B plan or in finding a job

These are my suggestions to you First -> Ask right questions to yourself .. do I really wanna do MBA? What will I achieve by doing it from 5 lakh-placement-college ? What will Iachieve by doing it from a good college ? do not settle for anything less Second ->work hard , I would suggest continue your job or find one and try to inculcate some hobby (as I can make out you do not have any or if you have you do not pursue it !)
Third -> Considering your human potential , I believe that anyone can do anything . So believe that you can and you will. Fourth ->take time for reaching important decision in your life, ALWAYS , there's no use taking a 5 lakh placement and being a king for 2 years rather than working hard for a year (or two - NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES) and being the king REST OF YOUR LIFE .... It's about self-respect buddy... All you'll have is that - self-respect , everything you do should boost it ...
