Hi Snigdha,

Usually your offer letter and latest pay would suffice, however if you are writing CAT next year then your admission dates will be somwhr in 2013 😃 so your bond period may be over by then :)

snigdha.k53 Says
The thing is that the bond for the company for which I am working presently is not yet over. I need to quit this job for personal reasons. If I don't pay the bond money (which is huge and I haven't even earned that much till now) , I won't get the experience certificate. I am planning to give CAT the next year and plan to target the top colleges. Please advice... m in a total fix!! :(

Hi all,

I have completed my BE Mechanical in the year 2006 and post engineering i am having 5 years of work exp in my core sector. Now i am interested to do Executive MBA of 15 months duration. I have done some research on this and came to know few institutions like SPJIMR, NMIMS and ITM offer such course part time (sat & sun classes only). Fees of SPJIMR and NMIMS is arround 5 lakhs and i feel its too high. ITM is best suiting my requirements like clases only on weekends and fees is also low 1.65 L. But now i am in dilemma that how much recognition does EMBA from ITM will have in the corporates or whether there is any better option than this in this fee structure within 2 lakhs, in MUMBAI. Please any one who had 5 years of exp post Engineering and have done such EMBA guide me through this. Or anyone who have sm inputs of such situation please suggest me.

Regards,
Vignesh

NMIMS and SPJIMR are wonderful colleges 2 do EMBA evn though the fees is high, its worth it 😃 ITM doesnt enjoy so much reputation as NM or SPJ; also check out symbi-it has EMBA around 3 lakhs

Hi!
I wanted to know if 'distinction' in graduation is important. I know it's appreciated but is it essential to make me eligible.
Where I study, there are two sets , ONE -PASS Two- HONORS.
The latter part matters the most. And You just have to score a 50% in the former. Now, my problem is I could not give one semester which dealt with the PASS papers. I will write the exam once again, but I think I'll lose out on the 'distinction'. I may get a 70% or more in my graduation, but without, distinction.

My acads-
10th-87%
12th-70%(MPC)

and now I am doing my grad. I expect to get around 70-75 %.

PLS reply urgently..

Do not worry. Your scores are fine.

I'm planning to do an MBA in media management. And I've got very less idea about this line of study. The reason I'm interested in this field is because it is slightly inclined towards the creative side.

The internet gives a very hazy picture about media management. Also, I tried looking for people, over the internet, who've done a similar course but I failed to find even one.

I wanted to know as to what are the job prospects here. Getting into an MBA degree is an investment both in terms of time and money. I just want to be sure if this field is worth the investments.

All the help will be appreciated.

i am in a dilemma
i have 2 offers

1 > Accenture, 3 lpa, ASE
2 > Asian Paints, 4.1 lpa, Regional Service Officer

i have done B.Tech (Mechanical), completed in may, 2011
and have interest in IT(read programming) as well.

but i fear that doing job in IT will hamper my chances of getting into top 20 B-school. as i have heard, selection com hate "Engineer-Male-IT" ppl

I have interest in finance.

This is the exact role in Asian Paints

Responsible for smooth installation of Dealer Tinting System (Colour Worlds), providing regular after sales service, monitoring performance of other service providers and constantly providing innovative suggestions for improving this service.
The Service Engineer would be responsible for all the areas involving the hardware in the Colour Worlds installation, servicing and maintenance and ensuring quality output from them.
He would be acting through a set of agencies who would be doing the specific activities. He would be setting up systems, developing service agencies, monitoring servicing, coordinating installations and conducting periodic audits.

hi,
if you are sure that you want to pursue an MBA after 2-3 years of job experience then I'd suggest you to go with the Asian paints job offer.

reasons are obvious, the difference in profile from the usual lot of the IIM (Indian IT Male).
that's a big difference as far as i have seen.

rest is up to you. :)
best of luck.

Do not worry about the questions they will ask. You can answer honestly by saying that you were waiting for them to send you the joining and meanwhile preparing for MBA entrances.

If you want to gain 2 years of experience before joining MBA then better try searching for a job rather than waiting for joining. If meanwhile joining comes, you may decide what you wish to do.

Hi,

i am facing the same situation. i personally feel that one should start working in any decent local firm and grab some useful work-ex. It will always leave you in a good stead in front of the interviewers that you did not wait for things to happen.

I have been working since last 5 months in an IIM start-up which is located in my city..I had my joining in november which has now been postponed to the month of April.

btw which company are you placed in?

Hi ppl

I am a 2011 (B.E. Mechanical) pass out with pretty good acads. I was working in Mu Sigma for the past 4 months but I quit it because I felt it was more of a coding than an analytics job. My friends and I, with hopes of turning entrepreneurial, started a snacks shop (a small one), the rest of them having jobs on their own.

My problem would be slightly reduced if I clear any of the MBA entrance exams, but still won't 4 - 5 months of inactivity (assuming I get a call) be against me? I mean, its another not getting your joining order, but quitting a job??

In the event, I don't get a good score and have to try again, I ll find it even more difficult to find a job, cos in the core industry they hire freshers only via campus and to get into via off campus requires atleast 1 year work ex.

So the burning question is what should I do now ("The Snack Shack" - my shop's name, is doing pretty good business and doesn't always require our supervision) - try for some job now so that my gap isn't huge or wait till all the results are out when I ll be sure if I clear CAT/IIFT/XAT or not??

hi all,

I'm Jose Paul and is currently working in H.P as System Admin.I did my B.E in electronics and instrumentation(I'm a bit frustrated working in the I.T industry).I'm a 2011 pass out.I was actually placed in accenture, but quit the job after 4 months.
I don't really like working in the I.T industry.M.B.A is my bail out ticket and I'm is aiming for CAT 2012.I will list out my problems to be precise.....

1.I can't do the job and prepare for M.B.A simultaneously(office timings vary and occasionally will have to work on Saturdays also)-NO TIME.
2.I was thinking of quitting the job(sometime in March) to have a full fledged CAT preparation of 6 months.
but will that be a PROBLEM/BLACK MARK in my career??
3.Another option(rather a weird one) I'm having is preparing for CAT while doing my M.Tech(I've got a decent GATE score(918-rank)This way there will be no EMPTY period(as I call it).But It'll put me back by 2 years.....
So...what shall I do????????
I'm desperate on doing M.B.A.
Which option should I go for???
U guyz have better options???HELP....

Hi talktojpaul, there are many students who are working in IT company still managing to get 99%ile..so i suggest not to quit the job..as sometimes HR might question you so..
If u even study 2hrs a day n about 4hrs in weekend it would be good...rest its upto to you to decide

Hi Puys!

Am 1+ experienced in IT. Losing interest in technical. I dont want to suffer in late nights even after 10+ years of experience and doing same jobs. I wish to shift to Management stream where I can at least leave home at 6 PM :)

I wish to do MBA in a top B-school where I will get an international exposure and handsome package.

I just have 1+ years of experience and also not good in studies.
I have good ommunication and analytical skills.

When should I take GMAT?
Though GMAT score is valid for 5 yrs, a recent score is preferred. Try to take it within the 2 yrs prior to your application
How much should I score?
It is generally a profile based selection for foreign b-schools. However, for GMAT scores, the higher, the better. Try to score above 700-720
How tough it is for very average person like me?
I believe that anything is possible with hard work. You may believe something else.
How much years of experience is preferred for international MBA programmes?
Around 3 years as far as I know. But your profile will be similar to so many other candidates "Indian IT Male". Try to differentiate it

What are my chances of getting into a top Bschool? :-(
My guess is as good as anyone's
How to improve my chances? (I dont play any managerial role currently.. I work like a slave)
If it is not possible to shift to a different role, try bringing diversity in your profile. Maybe you can think of doing some socially relevant work.

I really need to know few success stories.. especially from IT people to boost up..
Plenty available. Use the search function in PG

Am lost... Help puyss...
