Hi all, I have been working as a software developer for last 2.5 years and recently got an opportunity to work as a business analyst. As i do not have a MBA degree,the role of business analyst can prove out to be very challenging for me. Will this experience as BA,help me out if i want to pursue my MBA in near future???
Unless you work for at least a couple of years as a BA, you won't get quality experience. But that would also mean that you will have to pursue a 1 year or an Exec MBA. That said, very few people without an MBA gets an opportunity in a BA role and the fact that you have been offered this role indicates that your superiors think that you have the necessary qualities for this role. And this is something really good.
Wouldn't it be nice to make a jump after 6 months into a job and expect a decent increase in salary if you have the learning to offer to the new organization?

most of the companies normally expect the candidate to have minimum 6/12 months exp in the previous company...
however if some company has called u for the interview it implies that they do not have any problem with your previous work exp...
u can take call based on your profile & the salary hike..;)

Sorry for the late response....U can go join the classes straightforward...Its already very late my fren but not too late...I am myself a CL student@gariahat branch.....faculty is good like Sakeeb sir, Madhu Mam...COurse material is average but the mock tests are of the exact level of CAT......hope 2 hear frm ya soon 😃
I have done my graduation in bcom ( marketing ) with 46 % ...I really don't know if I will be able to do mba with this sort of marks ..can someone please guide me with the information ..whether doing mba is the right choice for me or not . I m really confused and at a loss at this moment

MBA is a right choice or not depends on what you wish to achieve in life and not on marks in graduation. 😃 So, you are the best person to answer if MBA is right choice and no one else out here. 😃
Marks are only the criteria in the journey called MBA to decide which B-School will you get through and after that the company you will be placed. :)
So, if you see MBA to be the right choice for you, start off with making the list of colleges/exams where you are eligible, prioritize them as per your preference and have a focussed approach to reach there. 😃
Then, focus on preparation forgetting about the marks, prepare well and score good. Following it, prepare for GDPI along with a good answer for few questions that might pop up because of graduation marks. However, preparing answer for it is yet far, so for time being focus should be on exam preparation. 😃
I am currently pursueing M.Tech from IIT Roorkee with an assistantship of Rs. 8000 per month. For conversion of any call for MBA, do IIMs consider this assistantship as an work experience? Kindly help because I am aiming for cracking CAT this year.

I had been a bright and creative student but screwed up since tenth. I had been diagnosed with ADHD. Till now, I wanted to startup after my graduation but now I plan to do a post graduation which gives me a job security with a minimum salary of 1 lakh per month at least. So that I can freely startup without my parents worrying up.
I am confused between cat and GMAT as there is less time in cat. Also I am not sure if my profile suits a good b school abroad. Please suggest me something. Is there someway I can improve my profile or should I stick my guns to Indian schools only. I am aiming at global sp Jain? I am good in quants, verbal and gk as my Bbs ranking shows.
i feel u should go for Indian colleges...get admit to a good bschool..work for sometime then start something on your own..u already have startup exp !!!
hi.. m new a PG i wil b goin into my 3rd of engg.(IT) nw..but m least intersted in coding nd stuff..dont want to work in an IT company after passing out coz i dont hav mch liking for technical stuff.. i ws confused b/w GATE nd CAT..but my instincts always tel me to go for CAT.. coz GATE agn will be technical.. so i have finally chosen to take up CAT in 2013.. but i m still not very sure whether i wil b able to get into top b schools or not.. i m ready to work hard fr CAT but m nt vry sure abt my profile.. class X :90.8% class XII : 82% b.tech :78% till nw.. decent extra-curricular
I could not get into vry gud engg college but i definitely want to make it into a top b school i.e. iims.. so please tell me whether my profile is gud enough..? coz dis tym i dont want to take any chances and dissapoint myself as well as evry1.. m gud at studies(among top 5 in my branch)..was good at studies in school as well..participated actively in literary activities..have a flair for writing n reading..quizzing etc.. but i dont want my cat prep to go in vain.. nd also when is d right tym to join a coaching?? also i want to knw which coaching to join in noida..? have heard dat sec-62 career launcher is not vry gud.. sm1 plz help..

so what if your past acads r not good..u can change ur future by scoring well in entrance exams and subsequently in gdpi...wish u all the luck...

just have faith in ur abilities and start preparing..the earlier u start preparing the better...comparison of coaching instis might not be allowed over here...

Buddy you have a very good profile and you can get into a top B-school. Just get a good CAT score.
And start your preparation as soon as possible. The earlier the better.
Myself Vishal, working as a Soft Engg in one of the leading MNC in Bangalore, frm last 2 years nd having salary of 4.2 Lpa. I tried to prepare IAS while working but couldnt be consistent. I have 3 attempts left 2013, 14, 15.(in short, I have only 2-3 years to do all such kinds of exercise ! )
1.Will it be a gud option to switch towards ssc-cgl govt job , in a hope to get time for preparation, as I am not in favor of sitting idle without any job for the preparation..? - wouldn't that be a risk , as I don know how much they pay , nd wht will be the future scope.
2.And after switching , in worst case if I have not cleared IAS, can I come back for MBA after clearing CAT/GMAT (will the profile be affected by such career related variations ?)
(I have currently appeared for the ssc CGL -12 nd hoping to clear the first round , next round will going to be held in Sept- 12, then interview in Oct- Nov)

Again let say 40-50 percent of firms look at acads , rest wont , i am not saying life will be easy but it never is ... so stop worrying about 2015 or 2013 worry about 2012 and about your preparations ..
