@[153753:ajaygovindg] Thanks for your reply 😃 I am hoping to apply to S.P.Jain and Alliance School of Business using GMAT (I am hoping for a 700 score).. I am also going to apply to TAPMI, Goa Institute of Mgmt., NMIMS, IFMR(Chennai), ICFAI(Hyd) etc... So, a sincere CAT preparation should also help me in Alliance Aptitude Test,IBSAT, IIFT and NMAT right? Correct me if I am wrong please...

I'm working in a conglomerate since 6 months. I have completed my training in 3 months and the remaining time, I am in bench. Do this count as my work experience for appearing in CAT?

Yes, since you were full time paid employee all this time, you can mention it as work ex in application forms. 😃

Cheers!

Hey guys!! I have a GpA

@[316381:visionIIM-ACL] Thnx a lot...

@[595055:sk_mdu] With a 700 score, SP Jain is a good option. Some top B schools which accept GMAT scores are http://www.gyanone.com/downloads/Indian%20mba.pdf. An exhaustive list of instiutes accepting GMAT is http://www.mba.com/landingpages/india/study-in-india/gmat-accepting-schools.aspx. TAPMI, Goa Institute, NMIMS are also good options. IFMR if you're interested in Finance. If you see, all top institutes have a work exp criteria, so out of league for you. From the others, if you ask me, personally I feel its NOT worth it, spending so much for the GMAT exam and then getting in there!!

CAT Prep will be good enough for the major part in almost all entrance exams. But then you might have to look up and prepare on some specialized areas for other exams like GK/General Awareness for IIFT, Vocab for IBSAT etc. So you'll need to work on them also in parallel.

@[524246:Subsishere]:Hey, i can understand what you are going through rite now.But I believe, if separation is for something good, then you should separate..They are extremely attached to you but they do realize that its for you bright future.

Tell them that you will visit them twice a year and MBA would just be a matter of two years. After that your mom can come and stay with you wherever you work.
If you have read "The Alchemist" by paulo cohelo, this exactly is the situation he talks about.
Always remember our loved ones push us to go ahead and do it and their absence shouldn't make us weak
@avinashkrjha said: Don't think all these as of now. Just keep the emotions away from your preparations right now. First try to achieve your goal and that should be to get a seat in any of the Top B-School. After that you can decide what to do. All the best.

Thanks guys.. ya I guess I will get back to my preparations .. 😃

@[370697:avinashkrjha] Thank you so much for your reply 😃 Will start preparing for CAT 2012 asap 😃

@avinashkrjha said: Hi gokuz. Now don't think on whatever has happened. You can still make everything good. If you start preparing from now, there is enough time left and you can score really well. But that would need a lot of dedication and hard work. Having said that, even the option of emba is good if you want to go for job now. This is something that you have to decide. But yes, if you want to go for 2 yr program, then don't delay. Give CAT2012 a last shot. And the work experience that you have will def help you. You need to prove your work ex relevance. All the best... !!
thanks buddy.. actually wat is the max age that one can try CAT ? is ther any age limit ? say are there plp doin this afte lik 4 r 5 yrs of exp ?

@[83412:sb29]Thanks SB :)

Do you have a link which can guide me on how to get started. Have procured an OG but need a plan to go ahead and fix myself a schedule.

Can you help me here? Can you direct me to some link/ website which can help me here?

I registered myself at mba.com

here goes my question. i scored good in gcet-12 but couldn't take admission due to some problems. i am keen on doing mba so i am thinking to try again next year but according to my parents and some other friends i should try for bank po exams instead of wasting 1 year for prep and then 2 yrs for MBA.what should i do?

There is no age limit as such. But then you won't find many people going for Regular 2 year Course with a lot of work ex. Moreover, it gets difficult to adapt with the crowd and placement also becomes a worry. Not that, one can't get placed. So it's better to go for executive course after a certain level. Hope this helps.

I would suggest you to think on this yourself and take a decision. If you want to learn about management, then go for MBA. But you should target only top b-school, else you should go for bank po. It is more a question of personal choice.

@[370697:avinashkrjha]: are pgdm degrees equal to MBA degrees in case of government recruitment? i mean does the indian government accept PGDM degrees? I have heard that the private companies which take in students for recruitment providing them with a huge salary takes some kind of evaluation to sort and skip students? There is no guarantee of the jobs, moreover as they are diplomas, most of the government recruiters won't recruit them as they do with MBA degree guys.. If that's the case then we can get MBA degrees from any many universities and apply for the jobs...but will it be of much importance for the recruiters? And one more thing, are the MBA degrees given by government universities more valuable than by the private universities? Please shed some light on this matter..

Buddy

Only universities can roll out MBA degree. Rest all can only give Post Graduate Diploma.

Now, the question that should be more important is that which all colleges have their PG Diploma accredited to be considered equivalent to MBA. Almost all top 20-30 B-Schools have that, for others you can check at the time of applying.

Both private and government organizations know this fact and they take care of it. Only issue arises when you are from some XYZ college whose programme is not accredited.

Hope this helps.

I have recently received my diploma in management and it has an important line written over it , approved by AICTE and considered equivalent to MBA

Lot of my batch mates are working in govt core sectors so as varun has correctly stated there is simply no difference

: Sir @[316381:visionIIM-ACL] ok, i will check for aicte accredition while applying to other universities.. thanks for the reply..
