You can get registered at GMATClub which is a forum dedicated to GMAT preps. Apart from that, I won't be able to help you as the pattern has changed. However, what generally people do is to take one of the 2 free tests from MBA.com initially. It helps in identifying focus areas.

In my view, you should go for Executive MBA on sabbatical if possible. Part time MBA can also be an option, but then it should be from one of the Top B-Schools. If it is from an ordinary b-school, then there won't be much benifit. Hope this helps.. !!

Depends on a few things

1) College you have passed out..
2) College you have been teaching
3) Any prev industry exposure at all

I guess that you will start off as a fresher , specially in bigger firms , may be at the analyst profiles .. but also depends on how you perform in interviews

ok abhi then i will leave that to god.
I will just concentrate on clearing exams

hi puys!

need some help..
to start off with..these are my credentials:
X: 91%
XII: 89.5%
Graduation (BSc Statistics [H], Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi Univ): 59.3%
Certification: Grade A+ in Management (Summer School, London School of Economics)
CAT 2011: 66.8%ile (without much preparation)

Currently working as an Officer-Compliance at Indiabulls Financial Services Ltd. (joined this month only, got in through campus placement)

I got enrolled at CL in Feb'12. Also have taken the AIMCAT-basic package. Got through with the syllabus just a week ago. My mock performance has been dismal so far. The cut-offs being cleared only in section 2. Have to work really hard in quant & DI. Now, the problem I'm facing is that my working schedule is hectic, to say the least. I have a 6-day week (Mon-Fri: 9.30-6.30, Sat: 10-5). And it takes me 3 hours to commute. So I'm out for most part of the day (during weekdays). I need to chalk out a plan of action for the next 4 months which I would follow religiously. I would be really grateful if puys could offer me some advice on this. I have thought of studying 2 hours at night and 3 hours early morning. This gives me only 3 hours of sound sleep. I hope to remain motivated, and continue this plan till November. I wish the lack of sleep wouldn't affect my concentration. Also, Sundays would be lost because I would be taking mocks and analysing the previous mock on these days. Amendments to this schedule are welcome. I really want to secure a good percentile so that my low grad marks don't pull me down. Thanks in advance. :)

P.S. For all those who need pdf's of CL proc mocks and AIMCATs, I ve started a google group. here's the link: https://groups.google.com/group/mockcat2012
I ll be happy to add you guys in it. Cheers!

1. You need to manage your time effeciently. Try to give time everyday like you have thought. 2 or 3 hours everyday is manageable I guess and it is sufficient if you devote that much time everyday from now on.

2. When the exam comes near, you can try taking few days leave for extra preparation if that is easy to get in your Company.

3. For quants, practise is the only solution to improve. Try doing as many mocks as possible.

All the best.. !!

If you can stay close to your work location for the coming 2-3 months, that might save the major part of your travel time.

3 hours sleep cannot be a solution, as without proper rest you neither can study nor can work.

The Best possible way to increase your study time is to decrease your unproductive time.

Thanks a lot for the advice. :)
Shifting to the work location is not logistically possible. I commute with my dad, so I can probably utilise that time as well. But doing quant won't be possible at that time. And I plan to take a week off before the D-day. hope that would be enough. Still need to deal with the sleep issue, i guess 4 hours of sleep would be enough then? I can compensate on Sundays. :P

@Fuhgetaboutit said: What are the prospects of doing an MBA for someone who has a second class graduation degree ?

The prospects remain the same. Only difference will be that you won't be eligible to sit for companies with policy of allowing students with through out first class marks.. !!
@Fuhgetaboutit said: Do schools accept candidates with a second class degree ? What are my best options ??

Yes, most of the schools accept candidates with a second class degree.

The best option can be MDI Gudgao, XLRI, etc.. !!

IIM's give a lot of weightage to marks. So it might get very difficult. Though it is not impossible.

Try checking the eligibility of other top b-schools. You will find most of them where they do accept. But then you will have to justify the reasons for same if asked in interviews.

All the best.. !!
Will cl unproctered mock will give percentile ?

OR MC'S N CRT of time will give percentile or just marks in both cases ?

I think you have not asked your query in the relevant thread.

Now that you have asked, as far as I know, CL Unproctored Mock would also give you %ile. MC's and CRT's will give you marks and the cut offs. For exact info, visit the relevant threads.

I couldn't give the exam in my second year because I fractured my wrist and in my final year, the dates allocate................metime now.Cheers!

1. Yes, a great Score in CAT should be enough for fetching a call from a Top B-School at least if not IIM's. Not tht it is impossible to get a call from IIM.

2. You again have a good chance to get calls from XLRI, XIMB, etc through XAT if you score good in XAT.

3. You might be asked about the gap in the interviews and be prepared to justify that.

4. All the best for job and your exams.. !!

Yes. gmatclub.com
Thanks Mr. Avinash.

I am from Kolkata. It will better if I can find a better B-school in Kolkata. Other than there will be no problem to go outside of Kolkata. But if I get any chance in Kolkata it will be better for me. Please let me know some name of Top B-Schools in Kolkata or other state.

Hi, I am coming back to this forum after a few years with a dilemma. I did M.Sc. Chemistry in 2007(IITK) and was doing PhD in US. In the middle, I was constantly being annoyed by my boss (advisor) who started playing nasty tricks and I lost all trust in him. I could have recorded his voice using a sound recorder and provided evidence to higher authorities. That would have triggered a lot of complex events that I was not prepared for. So, I decided to write a letter directly to him with cc: to the Head of the department and the Dean of the Science PhD program and proclaimed that I cannot work with such a person or an organisation that employs such people and therefore decide to leave the organisation. The Head of the department told me that I can work with another advisor if I want to, but I decided to leave it behind and came back to India as I was worrying about my age and age-limits associated with Govt./PSU jobs. I started applying for PSU jobs this year and appeared for a few interviews.I was not selected in one of them and rest of the results have not yet come out. I am yet to appear in some other job interviews for which I need to prepare. I do not know how to handle this kind of situation and need help. Complaining against previous boss is almost never taken in good terms by interviewers. What would be the best way to satisfy the interviewers so that I get a job? I am trying for only PSU jobs that are advertised in Employment News or the respective company websites like NTPC/HPCL etc as I do not have any idea about the private sector jobs. As far as real life is concerned, most people fear any kind of whistleblowers in their organisation.

1. In my view, you should be honest in the interview and tell whatever happened.

2. If you are not getting selected because of this reason only, there is nothing much you can do. But if you are being honest, then you def stand a chance.

3. I would suggest you to try in Private Sector as well.

4. All the best.. !!
