@subhataker said: Sir/Madam, I am a 2011 passout of computer science and engineering. I did not take up the conventional job of an engineer after passing out. From the beginning of 2011 i have been managing a small transport business. It is an own business and does not have employees as such other than drivers and helpers. I have three trucks now whereas i began with just 1 in 2011. I am going to appear for CAT, NMAT and SNAP. Can i show this as work experience? NMAT has an option called "Own Business". Is my business applicable for it? The NMAT registrations are on and CAT registrations will begin by next month. So, please advise me on what to do. And if i can show it as work experience what should i use as a document to prove it? Yours Truly, subhataker
1. I am not very sure if you can use this as work-ex.
2. But you can def use this experience in the interviews.
3. You can enter these details in "Own Business" of NMAT if it has such an option.
@subhataker said: And yes Mr. Avinash what should i do? should i mention it just during the interviews for ims and not during the CAT form fill-up???? Please suggest something.
There is nothing wrong in mentioning in the forms. You can do so. Considering or not considering is upto them.. !!
I completed my B.E ECE in the year 2010... and it did not get a job... and I needed a job due to some financial constraints... I was chucked out of two Major IT firms which came for ON Campus interview in my college... I was not able to clear the aptitude exams... I have been suffering from lot of health problems from my early life.... Two years before I was affected with Rheumatic fever and Arthritis... I took a lot of leave in my company... and some how I managed to stay in the job.... Days.. passed as I just doing a routine work, taking medicines till now and have to for years ahead , going to hospitals... etc.... did not think of my career... I am not interested in the job I am doing... I feel under rated , looked down upon in my job.... Bad Appraisal... So I planned of taking CAT 2012.... Joined classes... 3 months before But my dad fell very Ill and had a surgery.... So I was not able to attend classes on weekends as I have to go to my home town...... I want to go ahead in my career. I I feel like I need to work in a field like consulting as I feel I can do it better... I have to prepare for CAT 2012... Very little time left...But I am weak in Aptitude. Many have told me CAT is not for you, as you cant clear many IT company Apps.... l I cant think of a MBA outside India as lot of money had been spent for my father Surgery.... I am good at public speaking.... I hope MBA would be good for my career.. My parents are not allowing me to quit my job to prepare for MBA.... I am very much confused and upset.... Lot of problems... Can anyone please guide me..... Can I crack CAT this time ..... Try to get 80+ percentile????? Is it possible..... Please someone guide me at this point... I am stuck......

Yes, why not. If you believe in yourself, you can def crack. If you have financial constraints, then do self study. Self study is the best way of studying. Try giving mocks and analysing them. And i bet that hard work will def pay for you. All the best.. !!
Hey all, a change is always welcome...be it the new avataaarr of PG :)
Well I have been away from here for quite long for self study , self indulgence and stuff and look what it did to me.. a lost focus , a careless attitude , lot of talk about study w/o action and all sorts of negative emotions..its better not to study than bemann se padhai.
I came here today just to have a peek and i've already had a reality check !!
Senior PUYS , please guide me to start afresh , to keep my focus intact so that I don't lose it this time...I've already tried twice and just missed it.. I am reaching saturation I feel, at this crucial point of time.. please help me to maintain my focus for one last time.

1. Just keep visiting Pagalguy.Com and I am sure you will have some motivation chasing you.
2. Join a Test Series as soon as possible because there are only some 80+ days left for CAT 2012 to start.
3. Seeing your performance in the mock, peek into the relevant threads of pagalguy. Get the hard work going and I don't find any reason why you should not perform well. All the best.. !!

1. There is no fixed time limit in which you can master any subject. It depends upon your dedication, hard work and many other factors.
2. Over the years, the exam pattern for VA has changed from English Language Test to English Usage Test.
3. So the only way is to read, read a lot and read diverse subject matter. The more and more varied books or magazines you read, the more comfortable and familiar you become with words and their usage.

1. You do your MBA only once. So it is suggested that you should not settle with these colleges you are getting now.
2. Dropping a year can be a good option as you will have full focus on your preparations. Year drop won't affect much in PI or Placements later.
3. But sometimes, this drop can affect you if you are not making good use of the time. So if that is the case, it is better to go for job and then keep trying. But the only motive should be to get the Top B-School at the end.
I really need some advice for my career. I am currently in 3rd year, engineering (no surprises here), eee. With pretty average acads so far
10th- 91.4%
12th- 76.4% (dropped an year)
B.E.- around 7.7 gpa
Throughout my life (after 10th), i have been an underdog. I couldn't make it into iits, science never fascinated me. Now, i really want to make it big in finance. I have a genuine interest in that. And, I was ok with cat format, could work on my aptitude and english. But when i looked around i realised how difficult it is for me to make it into iims. I really lack in my acads(12th 76). And man, u need above 99 %le just to get into the seats in interview panel of iims.
Now, i mean i dont want to sound like a cynic, but i dont want to chase a impractical target. Really messed up. please reply.

There is nothing like impractical target here. Humans are only scoring 99+ %ile in CAT/XAT and so can you. So try to focus only on your preparations and score as much %ile as you can.
10th, 12th Marks is something that you cannot change now. So don't worry about it. Try to score as much gpa as you can in your coming semesters in Engg.
It's true that IIM's have started giving more weightage to marks scored in 10th,12th,grads, but you cannot do anything about it. It's time to accept the change and give your best in whatever oppurtunity you have. All the best.. !!
Hey guys i donno if it's related but i'm in great dilemma...i applied for Delhi Police SI post i completed part-1 reg and did the payment but than i forgot to upload the pic and sign...Is there anyway i can appear in the exam plz tell me i'm so feeling fucking dumb..i tweeted for sscchief too but he's not replying...
as i have said, I am working as commercial engineer (project manager) in the field of transportation (locomotives) and dealing with both Public and private customers.
My profile includes making tender and submission, execution of order (project management), cash/debtor management, customer complaint and resolution and commercial closure of project.
This is first time I am posting in PG.. I am not sure if I am posting in the right thread or asking the right question. Still thought of asking.
I have done my BBA and have been working from past 4 years. I had appeared for CAT 2007, but scored horrible. Though scored good in MAT, decided to take break and give CAT again. However have not given any CAT after 2007 nor have been practising for the same.
Now I am planning to give CAT in Nov, though I have started preparation, I feel I am not upto the mark and there are so many things to do. I keep getting lost. I don't know where should I start and in the end, I end up doing nothing.
July is already over and there are less than 3 months for CAT. I want to know how should I go about studying. I am full time working professional so can't give more than 4 hours a day for CAT preparation.
I am okay in English and very bad in Maths. How should I go with the preparation. If anyone can help, it would be great.
I have appeared for mock cats and without any preparation my scores are ranging between 65 to 75 percentile, but in Maths its hardly 30 to 40 percentile. I am not sure how can I maximize the score.
Since I have been working from past 4 years, I do not think going for any collage would be an option for me. I am trying to get in the best. I think I can still do it, at least clearing CAT with good cut offs, only thing I don't know how should I approach it.
If anyone can help me with this, it would be great. Any help would be appreciated.
