Personal Dilemma Related Queries

Hi,

I am a 2009 B. Tech Pass out (3 Yrs of work exp). I am currently working with Bharatiya Reserve bank Note Mudran Limited (Currency Printing division of RBI) as an assistant manager.

I am in a very great dilemma:

I feel that I wont be having a quick career growth if I continue in a govt institution like my present company. I am confused whether to do an MBA or not. If I do an MBA, it will take 2-3 yrs or more to get settle down. Presently I am getting good pay package & perks. I already feel like settled down in this company but I am not sure about the future.

Guys with experience, pl help!!!!
@avinashkrjha said: 1. There is no fixed time limit in which you can master any subject. It depends upon your dedication, hard work and many other factors.2. Over the years, the exam pattern for VA has changed from English Language Test to English Usage Test.3. So the only way is to read, read a lot and read diverse subject matter. The more and more varied books or magazines you read, the more comfortable and familiar you become with words and their usage.4. All the best.. !!
thanks alot sir.. i will do my best n will surely crack CAT-2013..

Just see if you are enjoying the work you are doing and learning something or other .. If yes , then please continue with your job as of now .. think about MBA if you feel a bottle neck in your current job or want to do something very different from what you are doing right now

'm Hi ,

I'm Undergraduate student and right now I'm planning to pursue MBA. I would like to do full time MBA course. I was going through some of the B -Schools and found out there is age limit for studies.

1. I'm 36, will this matter if I get good score to get in to B-School ?
2. Is Age factor in India?
The reason I want to do MBA is to give better scope to management skills and also improve .

-Thanks,
PG

Age Factor is not there in most of the B-Schools.

But still I would suggest to go for 1 year Executive MBA because you won't find such students in the 2 year course. Also, it becomes difficult to get placed. 1 Year Course is as good as 2 Year Course. All the Best.. !!

This is first time I am posting in PG.. I am not sure if I am posting in the right thread or asking the right question. Still thought of asking.
I have done m...................................cut offs, only thing I don't know how should I approach it.
If anyone can help me with this, it would be great. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

1. 4 hours a day is enough for preparations if you utilise this time effeciently and smartly.

2. Practise as many questions as possible. Try doing all the past year's CAT Questions. After giving mocks, give time to analysis also. Try to find out where do you lack. Give more time to those areas. All the best.. !!

Thanks Avinash.
Is Executive MBA full time course or part time course ? What is the advantage of Executive MBA over 2 years MBA.

@[409199:kuldeepsingh09] trying for a pvt job is not safe juz for the freshers..u have ample of experience to highlight ua worth puymate..try out for the companies like general motors or tata motors..recently tata motors had an opening.for the pvt companies i tell u u'll have work ua azz'z out each day..but u'll be paid more and ua market value will increase with the years..on the other hand in the public sector u'll have an easy lyf wid a pay satisfying ua needs... so u need to decide whether u want an easy lyf or hard earned growth and money....

Hello,

I am a newbie here, in fact I joined only today, but I found out that the most relevant discussion for me was this thread. I have joined a clerical job in a govt. organisation as soon as I completed my plus two. I have finished my graduation and post graduation through distance mode by 2007. Since then I have been pretty dormant on the academic front. I would like to know if such a huge gap in academics is going to be a deterrent for me. Its been ten years since I attended a formal classroom setting. Will this be taken as a negative??? Moreover I am afraid of the tagging of a government employee, which makes ppl generally assume that I have a lot of free time or that we do not work at office, which in my case is not true. And for my profile, I am not sure what would suit... A quick fix executive MBA or the two year course. Please advise me.

In my view, you should go for 1 year Executive MBA because of your heavy work-ex. Off late it has been observed that, people with heavy work-ex are not preferred for 2 year MBA Courses. Not that you cannot join this course and get placed.

Also, try to analyse what interests you and then only choose a particular field. Don't do MBA from anywhere just for the sake of doing it.

All the best. Get back for any further query.. !!

Marketing or Retail should be the options for a NIFT Student in my view. But you can decide on this after joining a B-School.Try getting into a Top B-School and then decide. You can go through the threads : Why Marketing, Why HR.. That will also help you a lot in deciding.

@[418536:themaster] what other option do you have except for joining oracle..??if you have options then you can think of the areas you can work on...puymate you can't take chances..freshers are pushed away from the the market these days..in the mean while if you get other companies fine else oracle is also a big name..go for it..
