Hello Friends,
I'm a CFA Level 2 Candidate & MBA(Finance) from IBS,Hyderabad & also worked 4 months as intern with I Sec as an Equity Research Analyst .
I'm here to seek your advice on two career opurtunities:
Option 1: I've recently got a job for Product control - risk with one of the Bulge Bracket I-Bank. Initially job will be more of accounting(i.e they hire CA's for these roles) then it will be towards pricing of Swaps & Structured Products . I just wanna know that can this job help me to get into Risk Management Roles (i.e Market Risk) in near future ?Like i've seen lot of job openings for market risk(i.e risk management) in which they look for people with experience in Product Control. This job as per many people opinion will fetch me an oppurtinity to work outside India. Salary : (46 K PM + Annual Bonus).
Option 2: A mid-small brokerage house in Mumbai which is offering me for the role of equity research analyst .I'm little bias for this job profile because I've already worked for this role as an intern but at the same time skeptical regarding the survival of this brokerage house itself if the economic scenario turned out to be bad. They have not disclose me compensation part but pretty sure will be much lesser than this. According to many people research roles are dead for a while & also associating yourself with a smaller "unknown brand" names will not provide you a good career progress in near future.I still believe i can get back to option 2 after completing my CFA if i don't find option1 interesting.
So friends kindly evaluate the the options & let me know "ASAP" which one will fetch me a better growth in future?
how is the executive mba course at spjain dubai?
Hi all.
im a company secretary executive student who is working in bangalore, I have certain questions regarding my career in the future.
My sister stays in sweden, since im studying CS, she wants me to go to sweden or in any other european country and study masters in corporate law(once I finish with my studies). do u guys recommend an indian cs student with a b.com degree study corporate law from europe. what are the other options that i have apart from a masters in corp law.please let me know colleges that are offering a variety of courses which is similar to my subject.
This might sound stupid, but no one in my family has gone out of india to study apart from my sister, they want me to study outside and get settled. I would very much appreciate your feedbacks.
Thanks
Hello friends.
I have a query regarding the weightage of work experience given during MBA admissions. Do colleges consider one year of training period as work experience? I am a Graduate Engineer Trainee fresher, but not satisfied with the company/work profile. So I want to do an MBA and switch over to a different profile. Kindly let me know if the top colleges do consider the training period as work experience.
Waiting for your reply.
Hi...
I have got an offer to join in an MNC through campus placement during my final year of B.Tech. I have joined the MNC 8 months after my graduation. In the mean time I have worked in a middle scale firm as sytems officer for 6 months. Between these two jobs I took a 2 months break. Now can I mention my work experience as 13 months( 6 months in a firm and 7 months in MNC)??
please inform me....

Hi,
Need some advice. My profile is - Class X- 57% (C.B.S.E); XII- 57% (West Bengal Board); Grad - 56% in commerce (from Calcutta University). Completed my graduation in 2003. Started working from 2007 (was preparing for govt exams till that time but could not bag one). Worked in an Indian pvt bank for 3 years as an Assistant Manager. Left the bank job a year back to prepare for CAT. But with just about 2 months to go for CAT 2012, I feel that with my academics and no extra-curriculars to support me I do not stand a chance to get a call from the premier B - Schools. I am saying so as I do not stand anywhere near the quality of candidates who get selected at those schools. Earlier I thought that cracking CAT with a very high percentile will ensure that I get a call from the premier schools but now I find that profile matters a lot. Am I wrong? May be I should have researched a bit more about CAT before leaving my job. My queries-
i) I will continue my CAT preparation and give my best shot but if I do not get the desired result this time then should I give it a try next year as well? As next year I would be 31+ and although CAT does not have any age criteria but the average age at the B-schools is much much lesser. I really want to do a full time MBA/PGDM from a premier B-school.
ii) Do the other top rung B-schools, apart from the IIMs, also lay as much stress on profile that I would not even get an interview call? I am saying it because after going through various forums, not just in pg, but others as well I find that profile is really very imp.
iii) Is it by any means possible to get into the top 15 B-schools based on a high CAT score and excellent GD/PI only? If not, what can I do to improve my profile now? I have thought of enrolling myself for a course on photography(its a hobby that I would like to develop). Or should i try to get into a job again and thereafter continue my prep for CAT?
Please give some advice. I am really demotivated and depressed which I know I should not be, more so in the final lap to CAT 2012.
hey ppl...
