@Mukulspock im sorry if im kindaa sounding desperate bt one last question .im not getting good score in aimcats and i doubt dat i'd not b able to make it to d good coll this yr,so if i prepare for cat 13 wd bpo job as my work ex then is dat advisable thing to do or do i have to find some good joband prepare for cat 13 or in worst case i've 2 take admission this yr only.thanx a lot and sorry for troubling u again and again
you can try it all ! take the CAT-12, keep looking for a better job, if it doesnt work out then take CAT-13 !
@yogeshghariya try getting a good percentile... or give GMAT and try for B Schools in SE Asia (mainly Singapore). the idea is that you should not discount your chances... who knows with a very high percentile you might get lucky with the IIMs and if not that then with your good percentile you can go elsewhere too...
Am a newbie here. I am a BE in Electronics from Mumbai University. I have been placed in Infosys as a Systems Engineer but the joining date is may 13. In the mean time i got a job in Market Research firm as a Research Associate and have been working there for the past one month. As a Research Associate i study Industry, its end uses, growth drivers, future market, trends for the next 10 years etc. I plan to do MBA after gaing couple of years of work experience.
My query is this
1) Is the type of job i am doing be considered a KPO job?
2) Will my current job help me during MBA entrance?
3) Will my work exp in my current job give me a advantage during MBA placements?
4) Finally should i leave my current job and join Infy when the joining date arrives?
Please someone advice me. Very confused as what to do. Thanks for your help in advance.
@Srinivas14 As far my understanding, you need not worry about your current job profile. Your job profile is relevant and will definitely help you in your B-School screening and final selection.
Right now you must concentrate on getting college of your choice

1) Yes your current job in market research will come in KPO.
2) Yes a good job profile is always an adavantage at the time of entrance. Every B-school give specific weightage to job profile, so that will give enhance your overall profile.
3) Absolutely buddy, organizations look for guys with work-ex, you should be knowing this.
4) Well it depends, no doubt Infosys is better brand but if your current job is good enough then you should stick to it else join infosys. ATB :)

Thanks a lot. Will not join infy when the call comes through. Read here on this site that its not of much use for MBA program anyways
But infosys is a hardcore IT job. But at this job ,though its a much smaller company than infy, i am being exposed to how industries function. So just got confused about what to do.

Your job is quite relevant both in terms of bschool admission and final placements.
However, the responsibility that comes with this is that you will be expected to know a lot about the markets and industry. So, as you stated above, if you really are studying market trends, growth drivers, etc, then it is will be very handy during your MBA. But then be sure to display an in-depth knowledge when called upon in any interview.
As for Infy, cross that bridge when you come to it. By then your interests might have changed. And just a thought : there are many Infy people in any bschool, but few people with market research experience. Those few people are very valued.
I know my condition is like really weird if you compare with the others.
I was a student of Chemical Engineering in Mumbai University, I couldn't attend college for the past three years due to epilepsy and family issues. I cannot go back to college now as the portion has changed. I anyway do not want to continue with Chem engg. I am more interested in Physics Honors. I scored 89% in SSC, and 89% in HSC with 92% in PCM (94 - Physics, 96 - Maths) in the year 2007. I am targetting the top colleges for physics in Mumbai. I wanted to know, with this percentage can I get into St. Xaviers Mumbai? And is it a reputed college for Physics? what are the placement chances?
Thanks in advance. I am really serious about a career in Physics, and starting afresh..Please guide me
I have a small query...I got an offer to work for an ngo and I am genuinely interested in it.
I am a CAT 2013 aspirant. I worked for a software company for 8 months and now planning to work with this ngo....What are my chances of getting selected in one of the top 20 B schools? (given I got the required percentile). Will this ngo experience weigh against me for the selection in the top b
@mbaspirant3 Please join this NGO if you are seriously interested... not because it would be a fancy addition to your resume for the sake of variety.. I mean working in an NGO would not and should not guarantee anyone's selection in a top B-school neither does working in an IT company for an year weigh against you. Please take your career decisions based on what you want to do rather than the profit and loss from the same

Hi..I am working in MNC but looking for job in NGO..which ngo did u get into and how did u apply? If you know of any NGOs in Mumbai where i can apply please let me know
@gelato Hi! I got into a hyderabad based ngo. To get into any ngo they have their interview process to see where you can fit into. This is considering they have openings. Check out their website or mail/call them regarding openings. I did the same. sent my resume, attended the interview and got selected.
Please let me know of any NGOs in mumbai where I can apply for job, most that I have contacted are looking for volunteers.... but i am thinking of joining an ngo fulltime, so looking for job openings in mumbai...
@mbaspirant3 As @DN2686 said don't join NGO for resume sake. But if you are really interested then do it. Just ensure that it is more official and you get a certificate for the same. All MBA college want a mix of student in class. this wil be a quality add to your resume and work ex. I have one of my classmate who has a bent of mind toward social service and has done the same.
Also others please do not get any IDEA from this . Interviewers are often college faculty. and they often have years of industrial experience as professional and consultant apart from teaching. They have seen thousand of student. They can look through all gas you give when you haven't actually worked but got a certificate.
