the funda of calling 7 more ppl from chennai center for director PI is, as i told already nasik center did not meet up to the xpectations where as chennai center was xtremly well. and the final short list will be done considering entire India not based on centers.

wat ever better late than never. to know more go tro' siom site and also this thread. even then if u have any quiries plzz post them.

i know everything abt. siom as such but i want to know the real depth, ihave read everything on website, in prospectus and on this thread and on other one also
what abt. value addition, what is the daily schedule there , is it rigrous or not
i m doing engg. in biotech and would siom is better place for me, tell sth. abt. final placements an avg. package
daily schedule is described by me in on of the posts. see that. schedule is rigrous but its not difficult to adapt to it. 1st and 2nd sem will be difficult but later u will find some free time.
we have biotech engg students also here in siom.
regarding placements we are at summers and final placements will be in 2006 dec. so cannot comment much about pay packs. but we are hoping for big ones.
value addition comes from industry exposure. we are the only institure in india where in the students will be in industry for about 8 months.
its up to u to decide.

guys i have been to the dirctrs intrvw
he is defntly a cool guy.it was more of a frndly chat than an intervw.he is new to this collg.he is planng to recruit ppl mostly with workex of
i met sm of the seniors.the batch strnght wud be incrsd to 120 by nxt yr.
ppl pls dnt take it negatively,but here is the truth.(dnt compare it with other symbi inst, all are almst same, except SIBM)..this is all first hand info.
1. When schmrd ws in ths campus placmnts whr really bad.
2. ppl dnt knw y schmrd moved out to pune..may b plcmnts??
3. nasik is small highway side town but has a good weather. but ppl wl be not that uptodate(they dnt no wht is internet). It isn well connctd with rest of india so expct only local compnis to recruit with sm additional outside compnis thru teleconfrcng.
4. summrs avg has been 5500 wt hgst of 10k..which is ok.
5. dont expect more than 4Lacs as the future avg. salary, boom in manf is still to come(welingkar had an avg sal of 3.6 till last yr with many in
6. campus is really small but defntly bggr than schmrd/siib/sitm whch r all in the same bldg.
7. life is nt that easy since ppl hav to visit yoga clss frm 630.day ends at 830 in the evening.applies to all symbi inst.but it is a mattr of adjstment.
8. cannot freak out at all,freedom not much since gates close at 10.
9. Hostel food is veg...ok,but no non veg..so one can add xtra food cst to 4.4Lacs.
10.Like any other inst in operations, dont expect girls on the campus.it will be near about 3:57.
My verdict-
Still an upcoming inst.lots of things lacking if u go according to facilities or infrastructure,
definitly wl take another 3-4yrs bfr it comes to at par with mdi and funding is needed for that,this future batch wud be btr than the currnt,the curnt batch doent hav students frm well to do engg. colleges..mostly frm colleges which hav partial/nil placements.
Suggestion-
Join SIOM n any other sysmbi inst. other than SIBM only if u want to do MBA this yr n u hav not much options n if u r not a pass out of a well to do engg college.
There can be exceptions!!

I totally agree with pagfrmdelhi. It hurts even more after going through all these rounds this is what you get to hear. Seniors plz do comment. By the way when are the results coming out I hope they will be out soon. Best of luck to all.

Iv been observing SIOM since its inception .... n whatever "fundoo" said is partly true .... but hey regarding Nashik .. its definetly not as described by "fundoo" ....
ppl here have 24X7 broadband internet connectivity
Its pretty well connected to Mumbai (commertial capital) n Pune (IT haven) .. n what else do u require (do hell with rest of india)
disciplinary rules are same as other Symbi intitutes .. so its no bolt out of blue .
n yeah placements .... no body has any ideas as its gonnabe the second batch ... but few of alumi are very well placed drawing somewhere around 6 lac (as fundoo said execptions r always there) ....
