hi seniors,

I have made up my mind ... surely SIOM is better than SCIT and ....
doing IT(system ) will restrict me only to IT ..thus narrowing my scope...
so... now its all done...

SIOM I am comming..

i wanted to know one thing flat .......

along with the laptop and everything included what woukd be the final expenses( approx) incurred by us by the end of the first year...

pls give us a approx fig coz the aMOUNT OF LOAN + EXPENSES TO B TAKEN FROM PUJANIYA PARENTS all depend on yur reply.

the thing is i m planning not to take the complete fees as a loan( BAHUT BAHRII PADH JAYEGA) i was thinking of borrowing some of it from my dad and an approx expense if known would certainly help me calculate how much is to be asked from where is it to b taken from??

if thats a bit too much of an ask then seniors pls let me know that in the previous year what were the expenses yu had personally ???

tution fee : Rs. 2,09000 ( for 1 year)

No other expense from college side.

Expenses you may incur at

Cafeteria : Rs.500 pm
Photocopying : Rs. 50 pm
Notebooks & Registers : Rs. 200/semester
Papers for asssignemtns : Rs. 200/year
Outing : Rs. 5 to Rs.70 per trip.

Avg outing - say 5 times a month and avg spending on travel Rs.50

It may cost you Rs. 250 only on travel

Expenses for day to day life Rs.1000 pm (toothpaste, toiletries etc)

Laptop - Rs.42000 (last year price HP)

If you go to home once in year another Rs.1000

Mobile bill : Airtel One plan - Rs.900 pm

Apart from these you will incur some more charges which I will mention when you come here for joining.

Approx . you will have about Rs.2,75,000 for your first year.

to add to Mr skylork, if u are confident that u will fail in exams then it will be 300 rupees per paper. so approx 30*300=9000. and this is the maximum amount u have to have as safety. just for a joke but its a fact here.

reddy for me knife is hanging over my head. i have to go tro' daily horoscope if it is predicted as im financialy better today then no need to worry for tat 300 Bugs.

Hey folks I received the official mail from the college. Now I am sure I am really through. But after going through the mail it seems I am joining some ARMY CAMP under MAJOR GENERAL JOSHI. So many rules and regulations come on yaar we are not joining some school or army base we are here to do PG . Anyways nothing else can be done we have to follow them ;->. Seniors plz do comment.
Few small queries I hope no one minds or gets confused:
Do we need to have knowledge of SQL ?
Being from science side we didnt have accountancy as a subject so de we really need to know it to understand SAP ?
Especially in comp what all do we need to know so that we dont face problems as we join the college ?

yes my friend ur joing a school popularly known as B-school. i think now u came to know way they are called B-school not as B-college.
well, u will learn about SQL in foundation, so nothing to worry about tat.
SAP will be thought from 1st sem before tat u will be introduced to finacial accounting in foundation and cost management in 1st sem. i guess it will not create much problem. on SAP as well as on comp skills it will be better if skylork comment for this. THROUGH SOME LIGHT skylork... (switch on ur mobile torch)...

Me too felt the very same abt it in the first glance...( army camp stuff) but then the insti's philosophy become clear when we see that opn. is all abt discipline in processes for max optimisation of resources wehther be it physical or emotional or social or professional for that matter, Vipasna, art of living, yoga, exercise all aim for the same. make you a better person.......n tough enough to deal in opns.

Well much abt camping...... frnds and seniors can you throw some light on the prospective placements in SIOM apart from mechanical guys which I have come to know have already been placed for summers!! but what abt other core engg. specialisations like meta and chem and ceramics n civil etc... what companies are you planning to call for the dec placements?? is the process organised by students or faculty??How do you plan for the same... How are we at SIOm for the fiture evolution of our insti???? plans ?? I was told by madam sonwane (she took my intw) that we have 2010 plan what is it???

Also pls throw some light on APICS , six sigma and sap stuff in SIOM......

n lets come out of this fee discusison for god's sake!!...... does it really matter too much?? u get loans at your door steps man ..................

u will have to worry about them after coming here. now better think that u dont have anything to worry about. just think whether to join operations or not. my sincere request to all those who are looking for career in marketing, this is not ur piece of cake. people interested in finance u will be deployed as operations managers only in either investment baking or insurance or anyother financial institution. in IT u willl be as consultants and business analysts. HR, ok but i dont know how far this can be.... if any more on HR call up Madhu.
for all the details regarding APICS,six sigma please browse through.

Mr Reddy is it seems u think that Life at SIOM is abt a page 3 celebrity to be discussed here at PG, we all know that a an MBA program in any good bschool is rigoruos and needs a lot of hard work, what we want here is to discuss about the legitimacy of the discision that we will take to invest two most crucial years of our lives. and SIOM as new institute, you as seniors have the responsibility to let us all know the prospects of the same.

We cannot take discisions of our lives on the basis of life at SIOM. I am selected and want to join and this a forum on which we discuss serious things............... cause many probably unlike you take life a bit more seriously......

If you are uninterested pls stay away from the discussions but pls dont hinder the process of healthy discussion by making it murky.....

I hope you would have gone through all the posts in this thread and you are a continous follower of this thread. All the queries whatsoever you have raised in your previous post have been answered. Many guys , before even you might have thought about it have raised these questions and we have answered them. May be they are not consolidated into one single post. But they are very detailed and easy to understand. I would insist you to go through the previous posts if you haven't so.

And whenever you write something in a forum, please do be some what subtle and polite. We are not paid to give you any information. We volunteer to inform those aspirants who wish to join our institute about the pros & cons. At time we have clearly mentioned in these threads where SIOM is lagging and what improvements are been taken.

If you want to know something, then try approaching our institute officially and get it. We are not any faculty or admins clerk who are answering to you.

dear himanshu sharma......if what Mr skylork told really happens? we are doing this just because i (we) faced a problem lastyear as there were no seniors and we dont want our juniors to suffer. are u requesting us or commanding us. do u think u will get any info if i really want to stop this.
what i really meant was dont confuse others much by talking too much about subjects and other academic related bcos u will get complete info if u browse through. and one more thing what ever u want have already been answered. if something is necessary we would have specified u and we have been doing it. interesting topics means the problems u are currently facing regarding bank procedures, quiting jobs, and many more which will be useful for others aswell.
and now Mr sharma ask me SPECIFICALLY what u need from us regarding sap, six sigma and apics after going through all the threads.
