Dont worry. As mentioned by me in previous post, they are accepting the forms even till tomm afternoon... So even if your form reaches tomm you should still be good...

Hi Puys,

I am from Tata Motors Bangalore. Though i submitted the form today, even i got to know that the internal deadline is tommorow evening.

Regards,

Sundeep

Ah well at least you dont have to mail it again and wait for another 2 days for its receipt :). But i hate the fact that some people got more time to write the essays!Nothing against those guys but just reflects the inconsistency in the selection procedure.

Neways here is a brief from my experience in 2008.

1. Essays were not used for shortlist for GD! - I know this for a fact because even though many of us submitted the app before the GD round there were 2 people in my group who never even got an email asking them to fill essays, they were asked to submit app in 7 days after the GD round.

Now to the process

Round 1 : Just applied for TAS, goal sheets were sent.

Round 2: Chairman's GD =- This happened in Boston, around 36 people split in 2 groups and 18 GDs in each group. A chairman's GD is where each person picks up a topic and acts as a CEO/CFO/COO or just say a plan manager and a business situation is projected. Its very interesting and a lot of fun and NO its not a chaos(does one argue in a board meeting!! No right oh yeah one exception if ur an MP its a different story :)).

Round 3: Bombay : only 2 of us from US made it to this round. There were 24 people in total. Ur given 5 star treatment, get to meet a lot of senior ppl from the TATA group. One word on the TAS HR they are excellent. unlike anything we can imagine especially from our TCS exp i must say!!

This round had a case study followed by an interview. Both were stress ones for me, but all had mixed experiences. I did not go beyond this round.

Round 4 : Only 6 people got selected for this and i guess this includes 2 interviews and 3 of the 6 made it to TAS.

So thats about it, let me know if someone has more questions around it.

Hey Silvers

@process: As I said earlier... the process though good on paper doesnt seem to be stringent...

@description of process: Very well articulated. That answers lot of questions. Could you please elaborate on the Chairman's GD a bit more.

Does any one have idea about the salary in TAS?

Undisclosed buddy its undisclosed 😃 Well i do have an idea, but wud not do justice to the person if i tell it here... lemme say from what i know its good enough for you to sign up for the Job. Or if ur in TCS then ull be making what ur GL makes 😃

Sure, So everyone will take turns to pickup a topic and a good example is You are the chairman of Tata Motores and there is a lot of unrest in signoor around the new tata nano plant. Introduce to the board what the agenda of the board meeting is and try to find out what possible solutions can be there that can be taken up to approach to villagers to diffuse the situation. So thats abt it, you will explain to the group what ur looking for and then there is like a 10-15 minute discussion on the topc and i guess ur judged upon the maturity of ur answers ad the logic behind them. Everyone takes turns doing this once. hope this helps

Thanks Silvers... that was definitely enlightening...

Hey,

Thanks for the info. Just one query.

Do they give topics for chairman's GD or every candidate has to come up with any topic they want.

Amit

Hey Silver

Thanks for the detailed process information.
So is there a shortlisting at all after filling the apps? if yes, do you know what is it based on ? If No, so everyone will be invited for GD?

Cheers

I really dont know the answer man. It seems every yr they follow some other process like in 2007 a collegue of mine made it to the final rounds. Back then the GD, the case discussion and the interview all happened oer a single weekend in mumbai. Also dunno what they base the shortlist ON, i guess you goal sheets play an important role cause it gives them direction in terms of your approach and maturity. Now you can argue that ratings are not the best reflection, but atleast what we do is reflected in the way we fill our goal sheets. This is what i think, so dont want to start a debate on how ppl copy goal sheets from last yrs and ...........

Thanks .
I guess we can not do anything other than wait until we hear from them ..

Cheers

Goal sheet??? where did that come from...
I guess they had only mentioned about the 2 year's bands right???

I Disagree on the Goal sheet theory......

But again i cannot explain the shortlisting process.......

Last year many who applied atleast in US got a call for GD

The process that was followed last year is as outlined below

1) GMAT cutoff and age criteria announced

2) Application deadline announced

3) Shortlist based on application announced

4) Shorlisted candidates were handed over a case study 5 days before the next round that had both a chairman's GD and case presentation

5) US people called to New jersey where roughly 17 people had come (if the number i remember is right)

6) These ppl were divided in 2 grps... 9 and 8 resp and 2 panels judged the GD

7) 5 people from each group were selected for Case study round that followed the GD on same day.

The panels were swapped for GD

9) I was eliminated after case study round (i was drenched with sweat when i came out of room after presenting the case... they virually screwed each hole during the prsntn)

10) 3 ppl were shortlisted for final interview that was to be held in Mumbai, one was then selected.

One of my friends in TAS told me that the essays play a very important role in the final interview and the panel will use the essays to nail you.

Ratings are also not very important according to him.. so i am still wondering on what basis did they shortlist me last year.....

Metastate,
A couple of questions on Case study:
1.Was it a generic business scenario or something more specific to a current situation
2.What kind of questions did they ask you... (for ex. What if.... or how did u arrive at ... )

Also was the time frame sufficient to prepare the case study or did u have to slog it out till the eleventh hour...
