But again i cannot explain the shortlisting process.......
Last year many who applied atleast in US got a call for GD
The process that was followed last year is as outlined below
1) GMAT cutoff and age criteria announced
2) Application deadline announced
3) Shortlist based on application announced
4) Shorlisted candidates were handed over a case study 5 days before the next round that had both a chairman's GD and case presentation
5) US people called to New jersey where roughly 17 people had come (if the number i remember is right)
6) These ppl were divided in 2 grps... 9 and 8 resp and 2 panels judged the GD
7) 5 people from each group were selected for Case study round that followed the GD on same day.
The panels were swapped for GD
9) I was eliminated after case study round (i was drenched with sweat when i came out of room after presenting the case... they virually screwed each hole during the prsntn)
10) 3 ppl were shortlisted for final interview that was to be held in Mumbai, one was then selected.
One of my friends in TAS told me that the essays play a very important role in the final interview and the panel will use the essays to nail you.
Ratings are also not very important according to him.. so i am still wondering on what basis did they shortlist me last year.....
hmm seems the process changed last year, i wot sweat over the case study now, going by my last experience i know what went wrong. Being grilled is not bad at all, just remember that the case study is on a business case and we are just being tested for ur logic and how we tackle a difficult situation. So what wa the case study last year on, was it on coffee and conversation!!!
Excellent gist of last years process .... One question: What were the GD topics like, only business cases or you got a mix of Creative, factual and case study topics? and is the GD a little polite or it is like a Fish market where everyone is shouting to grab attention?
Cheers Pritesh
I Disagree on the Goal sheet theory......

This thread is very knowledgable abt TAS.. thanks all for the valuable information.. i ve few queries, not abt TAS selection process, but abt work in TAS..
1) Where will be the 52 weeks training (15+15+15+7)? Is it in the same places every year or changes? 2) How will the posting be done after one yr training?

Dude, A GD is always expected to be a normal discussion anywhere but some morons turn it into a fish market trying to seek attention... n mind u those guys can never make it to the next round... A GD in principle should have a normal flow of ideas with equal participation from everyone... u do too much n u r doomed; u do too less n u wont be considered... so try to be somewhere in between these too extremes.:cheerio:
The eligibility criteria is on the website at: tas-inhouse.com. As far as ratings are concerned there is not cut off specified ..... Having said that , the application form submission dates was 25-Mar ....
If you haven't already registered and submitted the form you will need to wait until next year ......
Cheers Pritesh
Hi everyone .. new to this thread TAS aspirant but my rating is around 3.5 (TCS) Am I eligible for TAS??
Hey Ashu I do realize that. However, I was wondering if it was any diff from GD conducted while getting into a B-School ..... We shud expect this to be more mature ..... Just to confirm, I was wondering how was the exp last year or for that matter any previous year at TAS ...

Metastate, A couple of questions on Case study: 1.Was it a generic business scenario or something more specific to a current situation 2.What kind of questions did they ask you... (for ex. What if.... or how did u arrive at ... )
Also was the time frame sufficient to prepare the case study or did u have to slog it out till the eleventh hour...
Ashu,
I was in the group that had 8 people.
8 Chits were supplied to the adjudicators and all 8 asprants formed a horse shoe on the conference table.
The first person was asked to pick a chit, read the case in 1 min (not loudly), and initiate the discussion which was to last for 8 min (i dont exactly remeber the time but i am pretty sure it is not more than 9 mins)
The person who picks the chit is the chairman and should initiate the discussion by explaining the problem at hand (the problem is mentioned in the chit) to the audience.
One sample problem is as mentioned below
"You are the HR head for a telecom company that is facing a problem of Human resource retention due to increasing rate of attiration. The trend of Employees gaining the required functional knowledge and leaving the company for lucrative offers else where is on the rise. However according to the recent industry study the telecom sector is slated for a exponential growth in the next 5 years. In order to cash in on this growth it is extremenly important for you to retain the experienced employee who have industry related speciallized skills; You have called your team of HR representitives and a few of the other board members to discuss this problem. Lead the discussion to conclusion"
Once the discussion on once case was over the second one followed (and hence we had discussions on a total of 8 cases)

Pritesh,
No worries the participants are highly mature, like you are, and trust me you will be able to lead the group to very fruitful discussions (some of the idead you would not even have thought could strike you 😉 )

Let me know if this didnt help
wow... this definitely gives us the complete picture of the event... :-o and should surely help...
This thread on TAS is really informative. Its nice to see the TAS aspirants sharing their experiences. :cheerio:
I had sent my application on 23rd (as per our HR, the last date to submit was 24th), however I have people from my account who send over their application today. I have been working for TCS for the last three years (consistently received rating of 4). Presently put up at onsite (miami) for a support project. Waiting for the shortlist to be published on 10th april. (Keeping fingers crossed)
The admission season for this year has already finished and that for next year would start from June. So if anyone had an admit he/she would not be browsing through this forum... unless there were no other pass time

anyway jk.. do u have one???
Well nice analytic thinking... but what bout ppl who think TAS is betta than what Grad schools have to offer??????
i am sure none give GMAT with only TAS in mind...... and i know of a couple who have admits and still trying for TAS...
Anyone ringing bells???
well not a compulsive question but just trying to understand the mindset here....
Bout me..... i am definitely trying for a career leap of sorts

Even if we consider that option... ppl need to accept their Grad School offers by March... correct me if I am wrong :) so either they would have to leave that offer which btw would be a bigger risk, coz u never know: TAS can be tricky, or accept it in which case my earlier premise holds good
