IIT Patna is one of the new IITs, ranking 21st among India's Top 25 Engineering Colleges. Admission to the postgraduate and doctoral programmes at IIT Patna is now open for the academic year 2022-23. The list of candidates who have been shortlisted for PhD interviews has been made public. Selected candidates will be required to attend online interviews on May 9-10. Admission to BTech courses will be through the JEE Advanced 2022 exam. The BTech programme closes at 2732 for the CSE branch and 14216 for the other branches. IIT Patna recently signed an agreement with the Bihar Education Department to establish science labs in schools.

The Indian Parliament established eight new IITs, including IIT Patna. The institute consists of ten academic departments, fifty laboratories, three schools, and a few advanced research centres. Engineering, Pure Science, Mathematics, Humanities, and Social Sciences are the research and education areas of IIT Patna. The institute has partnerships with nine foreign universities. IIT Patna Admission

Admission to courses in IIT Patna is based on scores acquired in the following qualifying national level exams:
