The institute provides a diverse range of degree programmes at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. IIT Patna offers four-year undergraduate degrees in BTech and BS. The BTech programme offers a total of nine specializations, whereas the BS programme only offers Mathematics and Computing. IIT Patna offers two-year MTech and MSc programmes at the postgraduate level. PhD degrees are also available at the doctorate level. Engineering and technology, basic sciences, humanities and social sciences are the primary areas of education in the PhD programme.

BTech from IIT Patna
In the engineering category of the NIRF rankings 2021, IIT Patna BTech is ranked 21. From the 2021-22 academic session, the institute has added two new branches: Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Engineering Physics. With this announcement, the institute has increased its intake capacity for the BTech programme to 499 students. Students at IIT Patna have the option of changing their branch or adding or removing a subject from their BTech programme. This is done with the approval of the Faculty Advisor, the relevant course instructors, and the academic section provided.
MTech from IIT Patna
MTech is another important programme at IIT Patna. In the MTech programme, there are nine specializations available. The programme is divided into four semesters spread over two academic years. IIT Patna also charges a fee of INR 88,300 for its entire MTech programme. Admission to the programme is available through both the GATE and sponsorship. A GATE score of 500-700 is preferred for admission.
