IIT Gandhinagar is India's first IIT to offer cognitive science programmes. Cognitive Science is a multidisciplinary scientific study of the mind and intelligence. Scholarships for IIT Gandhinagar 2022
Scholarships and financial aid are available to IIT Gandhinagar students. The government, donors/alumni, or the institution itself may offer these schemes. Some of the most popular scholarship programmes among IITGN students are listed below.
- Tuition Fee Waiver for Undergraduate Students: Tuition fee waivers are available to IIT Gandhinagar students.Students whose family income is less than INR 1,00,000 will have their tuition fee waived completely.
- Students with family incomes ranging from INR 1 lakh to INR 5 lakh will receive a tuition fee reduction of two-thirds.
- Students whose family income falls between INR 1 lakh and INR 2.5 lakh will be reimbursed for the remaining one-third of their tuition.
- Students whose family income is less than INR 9,00,000 per year can apply for interest-free loans to cover the entire tuition fee under the Vidyalaxmi scheme.
Free Basic Messing: The Institute provides free basic messing and a pocket allowance to SC/ST students enrolled in B.Tech and M.Sc programmes who have an annual family income of less than INR 4,50,000. Under this scheme, eligible students will receive the following benefits.
Free basic tampering. Allowance of INR 250 per month for ten months
- Academic Excellence Scholarship: IITGN students with the highest CPI in their respective disciplines are awarded INR 2000 per month for ten consecutive months. If the awardee has already received a scholarship of equal or greater value, they can only receive INR 5000 as a one-time payment.
- Scholarship for Sports and Games Excellence: Each year, six scholarships are awarded to encourage excellence in sports and games. Students in their second, third, and fourth years of their undergraduate programme are eligible to apply and receive INR 2,000 per month for ten months. If the awardee also receives another scholarship of equal or greater value, he or she will only be eligible for INR 5000 as a one-time award.
Financial Aid Program at IIT Gandhinagar
The 'TATA Motors Limited- Financial Aid Program (TML-FAP)' includes IIT Gandhinagar. For a limited time, the programme provides financial assistance to UG students. TATA Motors Limited (TML) funds tuition fees and other necessary payments for four years under this programme. Each year, approximately 5 students benefit from the fund, bringing the total number of students benefiting from this MoU to 20 over the course of four years.
Who qualifies for the TML-FAP?
Candidates with a lower family income and a CPI of at least 6.0 in their previous semester are eligible for the programme. The following is how the family income is calculated:
- Students from non-metropolitan areas with a family income of less than INR 6.5 LPA.
- Students from metropolitan areas with a family income of less than INR 7.5 LPA.
Concerning the programme: TML-FAP is an agreement between IIT Gandhinagar, TATA Motors, and the IIT Bombay Alumni Association (IITBAA). The programme provides students with immediate financial assistance. Students who benefited from the programme are required to return the funds to the institution once they have achieved financial independence. The donated funds are reinvested in the next batch of UG students.

Q. What is the distinction between regular and elective courses?
Ans. In addition to regular branch courses, a student must complete four HSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) courses, two (BS) Basic Science courses, and four open electives (which may or may not be related to your branch) at the end of his/her B.tech programme. A minor in any field can be obtained by completing a set number of courses. His or her four open electives can also count toward a minor degree.
