National Institute of Industrial Engineering [NITIE] – Mumbai Overview

Ans. The NITIE Mumbai cutoff for CAT indicates the minimum marks or percentile for the students to secure to get admission. Generally, The highest cutoff is 97 and the lowest is 86 percentiles depending on the course selected. The NITIE Mumbai cutoff of the PGDIM program is 97 and the cutoff of the PGDISEM program is usually above 90 percentile.

Ans. NITIE Mumbai Admissions to PGDIM and PGDISEM programs are done the basis of candidates’ marks or percentile secured in CAT – Common Aptitude Test. Candidates having not cleared CAT will not be eligible for PG admissions. Management entrance exams like XAT, MAT or other examination scores will not be considered.

Ans. All the regular students admitted to the fellowship program will receive INR 25,000 during the first and second year of the program and INR 28,000 during the third and fourth year as per the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Ans. The number of seats as per program varies from course to course. The seat intake capacity of PGDIM and PGDISEM is 274 and 39 respectively. 15% of the total seats is reserved for international candidates in each course as per NITIE admission procedure.

Ans. It will be better to join NITIE if you prefer to study in a competitive environment as all the major companies visit the campus and offer higher packages. It might not have the tag of IIM but it is definitely a better institution than IIM Indore.

Ans. If you want yourself to be in a managerial post then it's better to join NITIE than IIT. Also, the package and placement record of NITIE is better than most of the IITs. If you want to be in the technology industry and work as a technical engineer then it is better to join the top 3 IITs only.

Ans. NITIE Mumbai offers admissions to PG Diploma programs in Project Management, Manufacturing Management, and Industrial Engineering through valid GATE scores. Candidates who have qualified GATE will be eligible for NITIE admission.

Ans. Some companies have HR policies of giving weightage to academics and Personality. Some companies don't have strict HR policies but only guidelines. In this case, it is often the discretion of the selection team to adopt a process. Here better the grades, better your chances of making it smooth.

Ans. NITIE Mumbai is a great option, but with few flaws. The college provides great placements, excellent faculties to its students.

Ans. NITIE has started a one-year full-time post-graduate program for executives in Visionary Leadership for Manufacturing (VLFM), PGPEX - VLFM jointly with IIT Delhi. The PGPEX-VLFM program is designed with a blend of technology, process, leadership, and management curriculum. This program is specifically designed for experienced engineers with 5 - 12 years of experience in the manufacturing domain.

Ans. It offers great placements and almost all the students get placed. This year the highest CTC stood at INR 49 LPA and the average CTC stood at INR 25.41 LPA. This year 111 recruiters participated in the placement drive. Some of the top recruiters includes EY, IDFC First, Bain & Co, ETLI, Landmark Group, Flipkart and many more.

Ans. Financial Assistance is provided only to regular full time fellow candidates as per Ministry of Education guidelines. To be eligible for financial assistance the candidate must fulfill following criteria:

- Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology through GATE qualification preferably within last five years.

- Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology, Management, Economics, Commerce, Social Sciences, Life Sciences or Pure Sciences with valid GATE/UGC-NET/UGC-NET-JRF qualification.

Apart from this, SC/ST candidates are also granted Central Sector Scholarship 

Ans. Both courses offer different opportunities and learning. It depends on your interest and competencies which would be better.

is basically the flagship course of NITIE and is very old . Comparatively, PGDIM is a new course. PGDIE is a technical course aiming to strengthen the learning in the Industrial Engineering domain whereas PGDIM is more of a management course aiming to transform first class engineers into world-class managers . Also PGDIE has a smaller batch and younger students as compared to PGDIM . The fees of PGDIM is also more than that of PGDIE.

Ans. No , reservations for females are not there in NITIE . However, reservations for other categories are provided at the college such as Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy)/ Person with Disability category.
